top bar hives are great, I have 4 of them. Use your smoker to smoke the bees down so you can close them up. If you have strong colonies you won't have a wax moth problems. Great video and thanks for sharing

If only there was a way of introducing the queen excluder, performance would be immense.
I would still go for top bar hives due to the land terrain where it's sloppy and hanging hives still our favourite position.

Been trying to figure out how to make a flexible and adjustable queen excluder having in mind the following:
Hive depth, width and the leaning angles are not standard.
Coz with a good bee colony, you only need half of the hive being filled with honey and that will be a good harvest.

I keep 2 top bar hives mainly for the extra wax. My others are 3 long lanes and and a bunch of regular langstroth hives.

Sad to see you struggling with your top bar hive. Though having watched your video, I think your top bar hive is badly built. Try building one yourself from any amount of free online plans. I use Phill Chandler’s design and it works a treat. I have 3 top bar hive and about 10 langstroth style hives. I am moving over to only top bar hives as the old equipment deteriorates and I build more top bar hives.
