As someone who grew up near the ocean, best thing to do when you get caught in a rip current is to relax, don’t panic, try to stay afloat, and don’t fight it. Just let it take you. It WILL eventually stop. Experienced this many times.

Try to get on your back and relax so you increase the amount of air in your lungs. Nothing you can do so enjoy the ride and the story you will tell people back on shore

I got cought in one and I took me way out and the scary part under the water I felt it trying to grab my feet or something and took me down while I was trying to go the opposite way of getting out the current because i was scared
