I think that some japanese people will hate this video because south kuiril island(next to Hookaido) are not dark red color as rest of Japan. This means that south kuiril islands are part of Russia instead of Japan which is big no no for Japan. But evertying else in this video is made great!

7:44 Excluding Thailand is accurate, unlike some other maps. Although Thailand was under Japanese influence, Thailand was never colonized by Imperial Japan during WWII. Thailand kept full sovereignty over the territory. Thai king still ruled the country led by prime minister Plaek Phibunsongkhram.

It was a very complicate situation where Thai government officially allied with Japanese troops while there were anti-Japanese protests by Thai people throughout the kingdom secretly supported by USA. Japanese assisted Thai troops to occupy the northern part of Cambodia formerly losed to French Indochina and the eastern part of Shan state formerly losed to British Burma. However, Japanese tried to force Thai people learn Japanese language in school but Thai PM said “we’re learning newly reformed Thai script and have no time to learn new language at this moment” because he was aware of that Japan was trying to colonize Thailand soon. Fortunately, Japan lost. After WWII Thai declared the Allied that Thailand was forced to ally with Japan so Thailand was not punished as the Axis with help from USA but Thailand need to return eastern Shan state and northern Cambodia. This is how Thailand remained independance and was not colonized by Japan.

That was the past. In modern day, Thailand has Japan as model for country development. Thai people love Japan so much and addict to Japanese culture. Although Korean pop culture is very popular in Thailand today, J-pop, manga and anime are still popular among Thai people in all generations. Even Thais of Chinese descendant, their grandparents hate Japanese but young people love them and their culture.

It is amazing to see the detailed description of the massive changes in administrative divisions after the Meiji Restoration.
It accurately depicts the existence of branch domains within some large domains under the Edo shogunate, as well as the "pro-betrayal moves" such as those of the Hirosaki domain during the Boshin War.

Would you do Cambodia: Every Month like this? Since 1860 (start of Norodom reign) or 1863 (start of French Cambodia). Showing in the left the Monarch/Head of State/President and in the right the Prime Minister. It would be crazy good for showing how much time Norodom Sihanouk ruled regardless of his title.

No mapper has ever shown the Edo period and the early Meiji period so accurately.
Especially Tenryō (the Tokugawa Shogunate's directly controlled area) and Han (feudal domain).

The music after World War II was not military songs, but popular songs. Today's Japan is a country of high technology, anime, and HENTAI. I forgot about "sushi".
