Mexico is much better than Canada or the US. This is why.

In this video, I take you around a condo complex in Playacar which is a gated community within Playa Del Carmen Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo. We go through a walk of the entire complex. Tour of a penthouse condo with an amazing rooftop part of a luxury resort.

Near the end of this video, I give my two cents on the property market in Mexico and what I think will happen over the coming years.

Just spent 7 months living in Playa Del Carmen. Gave birth there. Got citizenship. A few things about PDC to consider before buying. (And I lived in PlayaCar and on the other side of town, where Quinta Avenida PartyZone ends, zazil ha) And these points are true all over PDC.

Locals know not swim in the sea after any rain. PDCs infrastructure for pipes and water is terrible. The water system frequently has issues, major overflow, and the waste waters will flood and drain into the sea. So if you go to the beach and it feels like the water is sticky or smells strange. That’s because its waste water and sea water. Locals know, tourists don’t.

The water pipes are so bad all over PDC, that even in PlayaCar, the water coming through your shower can really ruin your hair (ladies). Was in a huge chat group of expats. Around month 3, most women start to notice their hair is breaking apart and falling out. It’s the water.

We all know you can’t drink the water. Order Sky Ha water. And wash your hair only in that or bottled water.

If you get an honest taxi driver, they’ll let you know the locals are committing suicide frequently. The prices have gone up an insane amount in PDC in the past 5 years, locals can’t keep up and resentment is brewing.

But overall, if you invest in PDC, just be aware that the water infrastructure these condo complexes are built upon have some issues. PDC has a lot of great features, and great expat community, but the water issues, you can smell them in the air regularly. That’s only getting worse as it’s expanding rapidly.

What do you do for work in Mexico? Many of us can't just transfer our career to Mexico.

But not necessarily good for the citizens of Mexico. If you choose to live in Mexico, at least try to learn their language first and be prepared to immerse yourself in THEIR culture' don't expect them to immerse themselves in yours.
