Israel's judicial changes: Reservists protest against gov’t proposals

Proposed changes in Israel’s judiciary system spark protests, even within the military.
Many reservists are refusing to report for duty - no longer willing to put their lives on the line for a country that they say, is slipping towards autocracy.

These changes are not much different to what the U.S. has with their politically appointed judges for the Supreme Court.

Why did they abandon the Sinai, West Bank, and Gaza that they had taken over in the 1950s?
All of it is historically Jewish territory.

Politically, 🇮🇱 Israel has been in an ongoing battle between the increasingly authoritarian right-wing and the pro-democratic/liberal left-wing of Israel for years now, with soldiers and officers of the IDF (most of whom have 24/7 access to their weapons and equipment) actually taking sides and even going against the right-wing government.

Israel may find itself in a civil war in the next few years, between the left-wing and right-wing, with soldiers, tanks, jets, helicopters, etc on both sides.

If Israel breaks out into civil war, it'd probably make sense for the 🇵🇸 Palestinians to allign themselves with the Israeli liberals/left-wing because at least Israel's liberal parties are pushing for greater rights and legal protections for Israeli Arabs and Palestinians.

Why didn't they keep Gaza, West Bank and the Sinai which they captured in the 50s?

It's all traditionally Jewish land.
