Notice : Thaikovsky liked Chopin and he even has a work named 'Un poco di Chopin'.

I heard the orchestral version of this many times when I was a kid in the early nineties. I never knew what it was called or who composed it and it literally haunted me my whole life.

Then I happen to hear you play this, and suddenly I realized that this was piece I'd been searching for.

It's the piece I heard as a child that I searched for in vain.

Thanks so much.

Such expressive playing. I felt each marking on the page in your playing. That coupled with your rubato and attention to phrasing/balance, make this one of the more enjoyable recordings I’ve heard in some time. Bravo!

This piece of art makes me feel something no other piece ever made me feel.

Now, I do not in any way know you on a personal level, but having a beautiful wife and daughter, having mastered the art of playing piano both skillfully and emotionally, and being an excellent artist, I'd say, that you have succeeded tremendously in life. I can tell that you love what you do, just as I love what I do. So glad I found your channel. Hope you're having a wonderful day.

To say that Tchaikovsky wasn’t a composer for the piano would be absolute nonsense; his works for the instrument are subtle and not very virtuoso, but expressive and beautiful.

I like that you have the music on top as you play...it makes the experience even better!

I've played this through a few times as I'm a reasonable grade 8 sight reader, then listen to the whole piece makes sense!
Thank you Paul for all your videos.

This reminds me a lot to Chopin. Beautiful peace of music. But I also adore tschaikovskys unique style. Paul, again your skills leave me breathless. Very well played!

4:49 - stunning - I had no idea that piece existed.
And you can really hear T's style in that piece.
wow-yes.

Bravo, Paul!
Listening to this while watering my garden this morning has culminated into quite a cathartic experience.
The end result being that I'm left with a renewed sense of vigor and interest to seize the day.

Thank you for the motivation!

Cheers

Tchaikovsky is a great composer! more than just Swan lake as we know of. I love his solo piano music. And great demonstration here!

Oh wow. I’ve always heard this song performed as a violin concerto. I’ve never heard a solo version for the piano. Now I’m excited that this is something I might actually be able to play! Thank you, this is amazing ☺️

It takes time to learn a piece, but skill to preform it....this guy sure has that talent I mean...wow

I swear, we have exactly the same taste...

This has always been one of my favorites. Especially since even a relatively bad sight reader like me can still read it directly from sheet music. It's nice to be able to play a beautiful piece any time without having to study it. Tchaikovsky actually has several good pieces for that (another example would be June Baracrolle from the Seasons).

Great playing as always! Keep it up.

OMGOSH! OMGOSH! OMGOSH! Why have I never heard this before? I LOVE that unexpected ending! He must have had a very heavy heart the day he wrote this piece! I've got to do this piece!
