CO2 motor for RC operation, test setup

Показать описание
A simple test for the concept of a CO2 powered model with throttle control...

Gasparin G-63BB motor, standard tank (for the test...), linear spektrum servo and a suitable receiver (the one shown, just for the test... No real need for a brushless esc...). Rudder and elevator are the remaining functions for the model.

Essentially it all comes down to making a lever, fixing it tight on the cylinder head and adjusting it to match the servo throw, from min to max RPM...

George, this is a great video and a great project. I'm inspired. I have a small collection of motors myself and this is a great idea. It's good to know that a quarter turn is enough to go from idle to about full throttle.

Always quality build systems and airplanes!!
Good work

Very nice. I like that you can idle it like a gas engine, cool for a demo but I think it would be more efficient in practice to have it behave like an electric motor. Have the engine stopped at 0% throttle. You’d have to add more range on the servo arm to get good top end. That’ll save on gas while flying around with no idle.

great video. Does anyone know where I can buy a charger?

that is awesome, kinda sucks that the tank move around though .

Very tidy indeed. Can you use CO2 pellets in a fill-able tank or do you use those bulb style tanks?

George, can you say how you attached the lever to the cylinder? Is that just a small screw in CA soaked balsa?

Awesome, i really wanna try this out some time, how much gas does that take? I bet you could fit enough gas in their to give you an hour flight time! That thing really does not guzzle!

none of these C02 motor videos are very showy, just saying do these motors get stuck?.. or something. cause I picture an RC car with a manual gearbox based on a small C02 engine. but the more I look for pictures or articles the more I'm convinced if something like that were out there there would be videos. just saying I've seen one or two videos of a gadget that runs till it runs out like a trough car or a freeflight plane. but I've never seen these engines carry anything sophisticated.
