Being honest Steve wasn’t such a bad person he just did some rude and selfish things, but he was trying to protect Nancy from a possible freak and stalker that was taking pictures of her, he did it with a good intention. Nancy was the one who cheated on him and is most likely gonna cheat on Jonathan

Imo Nancy should either stick with Jonathan or even better, leave BOTH of them behind and have a fresh start. If she gets with Steve, Jonathan's gonna feel like he was a phase (but he might have a character arc cause of this who knows) and Stancy relationship was like a toxic high school relationship, this relationship puts a bad taste in my mouth. Steve sl-t shamed her publically with his friends (he did redeemed himself later but it's still wrong) and Nancy was also not that serious about their relationship (probably because she never saw real love, she even knew how pathetic and loveless her parents'marriage were)

It piss me off when people say “I hate Nancy, she’s a horrible person”, like bro, if you think that then you didn’t understand he character development at all.

In S1, she’s presented as the not no popular good-two-shoe, and she’s starts a relationship with Steve (which shooks some people because she’s not the type of girl he usually dates). Then the night at Steve house, they were making out, while Barb was been taken to the upside down; after that night she kept blaming herself for what happened with Barb, and had made her mission to find her. That why she gets close to Jonathan, because he was going through the same thing but with Will, in a way they shared trama. Steve not understanding this link they had, took at cheating causing him to be really hurt, and so his “friends” took this as chance to retaliate against Nancy and did the “Slut” graffiti. Fast forward to when Steve want to Jonathan’s house to apologize and got into the whole upside down mess, he began to understand everything, and you can see how there’s a mutual respect between the three after that.

In S2, Nancy and Steve are back together, and you begin see the aftermath do the event of S1 begin to effect their relationship, Nancy is not over Barb’s death, and when she looks at Steve she is reminded of the night she lost her best friend. And because of a lack of communication neither of them see the bigger picture or the root of the problem: Nancy is frustrated that Steve don’t listen to her feelings and thoughts, while Steve takes this as a sign that she don’t love him (which at the moment to seems that is all he cares about). These lack of communication leads to their eventual breakup. Then there’s Jonathan, like I said before they have shears trauma and had gone through similar experience of losing (or almost losing) someone close to them, so it make sense that she goes to him when she want to revenge Barbs death and expose Hawkins lab. Through his they found out that they may have more in common than what therms originally thought, and naturally begins to have some attraction to lead to them kissing and all. She never cheat on Steve, when Jonathan and Nancy were at Murray’s house, they have already broken up, but they hadn’t had closure.

S3 shows a strong relationship between Jonathan ana Nancy, and a Steve trying to move on (although failing at it). J&N relationship faces some strains when where she is treated with disrespect by her older male colleagues. Later she answers a call about diseased rats in the town and secretly investigates it with Jonathan. This would eventually cause the couple to be fired and a rift between them. After some encouragement from her mother and Nancy been the strong feminist she is, she picks the story back up and discovers that the rats are linked to the Mind Flayer that possessed Will. Reconciling with Jonathan, the two join their brothers and friends in once again defeating the Mind Flayer. Three months later, Jonathan and his family moves out of Hawkins and parts ways tearfully with him.

In S4, she’s in a longs distance relationship with Jonathan. And once again facing some trouble due to lack of communication. She ends up teaming with Steve (first time she actually interacting with him since breaking up), Robin, and the kids, treating to solve the Creel’s mystery. While all of these is happening Jonathan is in California going though an identity crisis and dealing with Ella and the Nina project. Through this season we see all of these characters involved in the live triangle change when they were apart. Nancy went from a topical good girl next door to a bad ass creer steven woman; Steve when to rich douchebag to the best babysitter and mom friend; Jonatan when from the bullies lone wolf to a stoner that valise personal relationships more than ever. The last episode leaves a lot of thing unsolved, and when seen J&N back together there’s a weird tension neither of them wants to face.

In conclusion, Nancy is a great and strong character, she may not have the best love life, and that don’t define her as a person, what does digo e her are her problem solving skills, curiosity and drive, strong bravery, her consistent morality, and how she’s not scare to do anything when it comes to save and protect the people she love. That why she’s one of the best characters in the show.
