Cashier: That'll be $25.50 sir

I'm 21, and I work a job where I lift by hand 15-17 tons of used tires 5 days a week. I don't do it because I want to, I do it because I want to provide a home for a family one day.

I am pretty conservative, but it is getting pretty hard to afford a home and no one wants to stop companies from buying single family homes

Before the term NEET was created, these people were called bums

I work in a factory with 200 people. 90% of them will not go above the bare minimum to survive. It's probably just human nature, so if you give everybody UBI, they will simply work less. If nobody is working, who's making the food, who's cooking down the crude oil to make gasoline, who's building the homes? What happens when supply goes down and demand stay the same or goes up? They will be in even deeper trouble.

Working for 10 years and I can honestly say I've had thought about quitting my job and just living like a bum. But then I remember I like to eat and live with a roof over my head. So, work it is.

Since I was a teen, I lived off of free money and almost became broke until I got more support and got financially stable. I was coasting through till I got my job a few years ago. It's a sucky job but my coworkers are nice people and I've had no disputes. I have been saving up my free money so that I can afford a place of my own one day.
Today, I had to walk home after a tiring shift but I just looked up to the summer sky and thanked God for my life. 🙏

My teacher once said. A comfort zone is a comfortable place, but nothing ever grows there. Just like these people who just lays there and wait, they'll never grow and do anything great. A lion doesn't wait for food to fall onto it's mouth.

We've all experienced dealing with the group project where we work our butt off while a lot of the group refuses to even try and they still receive a A. We don't want to do that in the real world. It was annoying in high school, lets leave that there.

Home prices are 5x the salary, compared to 1970. People know the game is rigged.

As a 22 year old Canadian that is currently working, this guy is an embarrassment. Sadly, people like him are expected thanks to our government

I plan on being lazy and non-productive in my future, they call it retirement. You have to work your whole life to get there.

I think in most cases it's learned helplessness rather than laziness. If you work full time and have a side hustle, have no free time, can't afford anything, and get no enjoyment out of life, why go to work? What are you working for?

Work used to just seem more rewarding. Being a NEET isn’t the answer but people need hope that their stress and hard work has a light at the end that isn’t fear of unemployment.

I’m conservative and always will be. However, in fairness to young adults, you can’t expect them to vote conservative if they can’t conserve anything.

NEETs? The Japanese had those 25 years ago. It's funny the term would be imported after all this time.

I'm on Disability. Laying around the house doing nothing really does suck after awhile! I had the chance to do a job training program for young adults with special needs & I couldn't believe how exhilarating & fulfilling working was!!! My friends complained about their jobs (some really did have jobs they needed to leave tbh) so I kinda dreaded the idea of working, but it was AMAZING! Someone once said they wished they were as sick as me so they could stay home & play video games all day. Trust me, you don't, unless you want a miserable life. My goal has always been to find a way to get off Disability someday & I'm so thankful to report that between some truly miraculous healing & a medication change I'm going through, I'm hoping to apply for a part-time job come spring! Your life needs purpose. You don't find fulfillment flicking through Netflix.

Social norms are important and work gives a sense of purpose. It is disheartening to see young people refusing to work, feeling entitled to a lifestyle that is often unearned. Personal growth and self-improvement should be a continuous endeavor. Let's not romanticize joblessness or laziness, instead let's strive for progress and fulfillment in our work.

As I've got older, I am less in favour of social welfare. I was unemployed for 1.5 years after graduating University and applied for hundreds of jobs as per my welfare requirements. But at the welfare office I often saw lazy people who refused certain jobs and acted entitled. Those people shouldn't get the option of saying no and still getting paid. The people who are disabled or elderly are the ones who deserve the support. The arrogance of some people is a burden on society.

I mean we saw what 3 stimmy checks did to this economy. Imagine what monthly UBI checks would do.
