LTC1799 Pitch Mod for SP303 // SP404 // SP404SX // ZOOM Sampletrak

Показать описание
a lil budding tradition of mine for the last couple NAMMs.
try to do something new with what you already have.
this time, i tried modding some samplers that i already own/cherish.
shout out to ben wizards for the inspiration
things i've learned so far:
SP202 crashes with very slight change in frequency so I did not mod
SP404 (OG) digital delay effect crashes DSP chip on lower pitch settings. heavy noise. no repeats.
occasional glitches and audio dropouts.
MFX 2 (tape echo) does NOT do this. neither does any other effect.
or seemingly anything else on the device for that matter.
bring the pitch back up or toggling fx on and off can bring it back. otherwise reboot and all is well. everything else is pretty smooth.
SP404SX soldering to tiny SMD stuff can be dangerous. all the other mods weren't too bad. this one was a b... i killed the audio twice, but was able to bring it back. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
the mod itself works fine once you get it soldered
(better than the 404 OG, no delay crash) ,
but i thought i killed my SX for good. NOT FUN.
SP303 everything is smooth so far.
same with the ZOOM ST-224
overall, the stability of the devices seems strong aside from delay thing. sampling still works. sample playback. pretty much all general settings altho i did not test every single feature. button presses are not delayed by slowing down the clock.
i also tried this on an MPC500 and a microgranny w/o any luck :(
