Topology Optimization using Hypermesh [Optistruct Tutorial]

preview_player
Показать описание
Topology Optimization is one of the most important types of analysis in the design of structural components. In this video, we will set up and run a topology optimization using Hypermesh and Optistruct.

The main objective of this analysis is to reduce the weight of a component without affecting its structural performance.
We will perform the simulation on a simple bracket and specify appropriate optimization parameters.

Optistruct solver will be used to run the simulation and the results will be viewed using Hyperview.

Your doing a great work towards the people interested in CAE/FEA fields. Keep up the good work and don't be discouraged with less views as CAE/FEA has less audience. Thanks bro 😘

*** ERROR # 1814 ***
VOLFRAC response on DRESP1 card 2 is not applied to a topology or
free-size domain.

Getting this error, Not able to solve it somehow.
I have also seen the suggestion in the comments regarding this error, but they didnt workout for me
Please help me out.

Excellent PSOLID (solid elements) optimization to reduce weight using volume fraction (strain energy kind of thing). There is no stress constraint in this method, although stress values are within limits.

Very educated tutorials always. This would do just fine for the analysts who just step into the topology optimization area. To get into more details, this method is often used to track “load path” of new material trials for R&D purposes. Each material has own mechanical properties and has different strain response based on poisson’s ratio. Design constraints are also assigned for Ftu, Fty, or deformation limits, as well as minimizing compliance (strain) and weight. You can also limit the element size for the inner solid elements to homogenize it overall as the gradual size change is set to be default for reducing computational time. As additive 3D printing application is becoming more popular and developed, lettuce optimization is also handy for further weight reduction.

I'm trying to open the Quick Edit option but it is not opening by pressing f11, what do I do?
Also, I can't see a separate app of "Hyperworks desktop" on my computer, I only have Hyperworks 2022.2 (I downloaded the official student version)
Please help me out....

how we can control the biggest holes on the optimized model? I mean can we kind of define in general way the final shape?

Good one. There are some things which needs to be considered while performing optimization. What’s the reason of performing optimization, is it to reduce weight only or stresses as well? Even if you increase the load or decrease it you will get this exact same results. One more constraint is required. Displacement or stress constraint. Always check stresses after the Optimization to see if optimised part are not having higher stress than the design space

Is there a displacement constraint for the optimisation settings?

Hey! When I select the washer split feature and tries to select the boundary of the hole, it doesn't select it and nothing happens. Please tell me how to solve this issue.

I completed the local analysis of one part in the assembly. This part is having only loads coming from the assembly interaction, it does not any other boundary condition. It is having only loads coming from the assembly interaction. Now I want to run topology optimization in this part, can I optimize this part by topology optimization, as there is no boundary condition (SPC) load collector. how it can be done without SPC load collector.
