Whenever people say they self-publish because trad pub means you lose control of your story, I want to tell them you really don't. Edits are never commands. One of my editors once told me "At the end of the day, it's still your name on the cover."

I've been writing for the past 7 years, (I am 16 now), and I'm currently in the process of finishing my first draft of my book. I have yet to decide whether or not I want to publish, but if I do, the thought of traditionally publishing my story is actually terrifying. The thought of someone other than myself, or a friend going through my book and critiquing it gives me this feeling of existential dread. A few years ago, an aunt of mine who is a published author ended up reading one of my stories so she could give me advice. She was brutal to say the least. Any who, best luck to you and your book!

I'm here... living vicariously through you and pretending that I've finished my first draft and am in the throws of revisions and working with (imaginary publishing company name here) to get my book on shelves. So excited for you. I always love your vlogs! They are so cozy and laid back. ❤🦋

It’s so interesting to hear about your editing and revisions process. As someone who is experimenting with different revision processes, seeing yours was helpful!

thank you for sharing your trad pub journey! really excited to get my hands on MOTHSBLOOD 🌸

also i'm from the Philippines & i'd say ketchup on fried rice with egg is pretty common here, especially as a full 'silog' meal, which is usually served with some kind of meat or fried fish + tomatoes :)

I also put ketchup on my omurice! I think it's quite common in Korea to do this!

Lynn I love your ‘bummer’ vlog, I’ve also been feeling stress, anxiety and burnout affecting my creativity! Hope you are feeling better following your retreat! 💗

I too put tomato sauce (ketchup) on fried rice, but I have no Asian heritage so not sure my habit. It is delicious though!

Congrats on how you are doing through the publishing process, so interesting to see.

So interesting to hear about your revision process! I'm currently revising my debut novel following edits from my agent and can completely relate on oscillating between hating your book and thinking it's the best thing you've written 😅 can't wait to read Mothsblood! 🌸

Loved this video and honestly anything you make, I find you so inspiring and calming to watch - the best combination! Also, so excited to hear about your UK release!! I work in an independent bookshop in the UK and can’t wait to see yours arrive on our shelves so I can 1. buy it and 2. rave about it to customers :) 🌸

loved this video! I’m glad to hear the daily sprints are going well for you. I actually started allotting writing time for myself everyday after seeing your video about it and it’s been so so helpful! 🌸

Ohh I’ve been trying a 30-40 min sprint every day as well! (I go for longer on days when I have time) and I have a progress tracker in my journal !! (Your cloud one is so cute)

I find that if I am losing my love for writing, it help to do another creative hobby like drawing or music. You still scratch that creative itch, but you're able to take some time away from the thing you love so you can miss it and realise how much it means to you.

I hope things get less stressful for you, that you’re able to get Sunday free in time for yourself, and that things work out financially with school! It’s a lot to handle in addition to revisions and I hope you’re being kind to yourself as you navigate of that. Congrats on all of your hard work on it!

I’m a pretty commercial reader and writer so it’s fun to see the process of literary-leaning writers like you and Kris. Your next ideas sound super exciting and I’m the same way about thinking ahead and wondering about branding (there are manuscripts plural lmao that I didn’t query _in part_ because of that…that’s a bit extreme tbh, but ‘tis true lol).

I’m wishing you all the best! 🌸

Hello! I loved your vlog as usual and I just wanted to pop in and say that feeling overwhelmed and not having time for your creative outlets absolutely sucks and I hope that you start to feel less stressed. Also have fun at your writing retreat - you should definitely stop by the Reservoir at Central Park - the cherry blossom trees will probably be blooming along the lake. :) 🌸🌸🌸
