I own this snare and I can tell you it sounds fatter than you can hear in this video. Actually it's one of the best sounding snares I have ever owned. And I've had lots of snares... ;)
However, it's power is in the slightly lower tunings. For higher tunings I'd go for a less deeper snare.

The low tuning on this clip seems to be where the high tuning is on many other clips.    I like that one can get a rim shot with crack, but I'm not sure this represents what that drum can do best, nor why most of us would consider buying one.

To me, even your low tunings sound high and I've found that to be the case on a number of your recordings. In turn, your high tunings are really too high. You might want to try starting lower and then work your way back up with about the same incremental tightening as before. Just a thought. JP

@viktor7m We are constantly trying to improve the videos and that means we try new micing techniques often as well. I think it still translates the drums pretty well.

My friend owned one of these. Easily my favorite drum ever.

I like the sound of this snare drum !! Do you think it can work for Metal or Hard rock ?

Lovely snare but I'd like to hear it with non-rimshot backbeats.

A 14x8 is supposed to sound a little big and fatter than that. I wuz about to purchase this snare drum... Now i dont know if i should...

I have to say that this drum definitely does sound fatter in person.

Typically a hammered shell is a little drier.

Low tuning sounds like a high tuning in other snares...

D low tuning ? This video doesn't allow us to listen to the possibilities of this snare drum. Standards should be set. With an ambassador (or an aquarian modern vintage medium, frankly better for brushes) I think low is around C, D is medium, and E is high. Most people tune on Db, D, Eb. Db keeps a little fat, Eb is too stiff, so I usually use a D, and a F a minor third above for the bottom head. Just my opinion. Thank you for your work anyway.

I have to say that I am disappointed with recording, the snare (not just this one, but all of them released in last days) are tiny, without true definition and sound character.
Earlier setting was better (presentation of Gresch Full Range Hammered Steel 8x14).
