Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara says there is a need to improve and redo the K-12 curriculum, pointing out that some subjects seem to have been “dumped” without proper consideration for the students' learning.

He got it. K-12 is necessary for Filipinos but the implementation needs to be revisited.
But what I find wrong was after K-12. Number of years in college remained the same when in fact some subjects had already been taken up in Senior HS.

Yes I agree. Decongest then please align it with the subjects in higher education. Yung PE namin sa shs same PE parin pagdating sa college which is a waste of time

Taggalin nyo kung anu-anong reports at PPAs sa public schools na hindi nmn nakakatalino ng bata, imbes na magturo ang mga teachers magiging busy kagagawa ng mga reports na iyan!

Gusto ko pong malaman ang kasagutan sa K2 12 na ito.Sir.President dhil pahirap talaga ang nangyari ito sa ating mga magulang at sa mga anak ntin. In favor of k12 but agree it needs revamp, specially the curriculum. Remove college subjects that are non essential to the degree students is pursuing, for example, remove values, history, literature subjects etc in engineering, tech courses. Replace it with more advanced engr/tech subjects as we can already have the means to self thought. Put non related subjects to senior or even highschool curriculum instead.

I find Angara's view on decongesting the k-12 curriculum very timely. Deped, in my humble opinion, should focus on STEM. There's no other way if we really want rigor. Future industries will rely on science and engineering.Period.

And Deped should decongest not just senior high school but also junior high school.The first bold step is to double the time for English, Science and Math and combine as one subject Filipino and ArPan, TLE and Mapeh and ESP and Guidance.This will free up human resources.With this, DEPED doesn't have to hire hundreds of thousands of teachers.Thousands will be sufficient.

Is there any solid proof that K-12 actually has any advantages to students? Just ads 2 years but they're just eligible for jobs same as HS grad jobs. To get higher earning jobs, students still need to graduate from college.
So does it really make a difference?
Maybe po, what we need is better quality of education and upskilling of teachers, not more years in schools.
Quantity over quality usually yields better results.
Kapag quantity over quality ang mentality, parang manufacturing sa China lang tayo ba daming nagagawang produkto pero 6mos lang e sira na.

Huli na po tayo mga pilipino in terms sa economy business at technology.
tingnan mu ang US halos lahat nasa kanila dahil yan sa language na ginagamit nila na crack nila lahat dahil sa language nila na english lahat ng termino meron sila..
Ang pilipino language kaya ba e crack ang language ng Science and technology syempre hindi..
English language lang ang may kakayanan..na ma open ang lahat na kailangan ng ating bansa..
Kaya dapat magpalit tayo ng language at sanayin ito. Para lahat umangat..

Ang problema kayo kayo din naman nagde-design ng curriculum. Ba't di kayo kumuha ng teachers para sabihin nila mismo sa inyo alin yung dapat ituro sa hindi.

Malaking katanganhan yung mother tongue curriculum sa primary grades. Kung kailan naman malalaki na mga bata saka tuturuan ng English eh samantalang most effective nga sana kung sa murang edad itinuturo ang English, scientifically speaking. Pero imbis na English ang ituro ay yung buwisit na mother tongue pa.... eh pag-uwi naman ng mga bata sa bahay nila tadtad na nga ng mother tongue don. English dapat.
