Speaking as a father who looked after our children while my wife studied and worked full time, I went into this believing dads could provide the same love and affection, but within three years I was forced to realise that there is a bond between mother and baby that cannot be provided by anyone else. This is an invisible chain, that has been recognised by all cultures for tens of thousands of years. I say this as a person who has studied early human development as a teacher, as a community worker for ren years, and a lifetime living in various cultures, including tribal Aborigines of north Australia.
