Exploring the Physiology of Cosmic Consciousness—UBIS Spotlight Series
Показать описание
Presentation by Geoff Taylor, followed by audience discussion. Presented November 18, 2023.
There are many compelling teachings in The Urantia Book that warrant a closer look. Our guest speakers set the stage with a brief presentation highlighting one of these interesting topics, followed by a discussion with the audience. The ideas and opinions presented are those of the speaker and do not necessarily represent those of Urantia Foundation or Urantia Book International School (UBIS).
Geoff likes to describe himself as “Retired, Relaxed, Reverent and Respectful,” but at heart he is an experimentalist techie with a background in Aeronautical Engineering. His primary interest in The Urantia Book is understanding the underlying balance of God’s physics.
Geoff spent sixteen years as an engineer, working on the Allison 250 turboshaft engine at StandardAero in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Aviall in Dallas, Texas. He moved to Los Angeles to head up their repair parts engineering department. A year later he was made the Research Director of a new research company. Four years later, in 1984, he was introduced to The Urantia Book by Irwin Ginsburg, a PhD physicist that he really admired. This rekindled his Christian roots and reilluminated his raison d'etre.
He returned to Winnipeg, but not before he had traveled the world, been inside three Space Shuttles, and won a couple of design awards. Back in Winnipeg, he and his brother (a physiotherapist) started an innovation company called Vista Medical Ltd. Crashing his airplane in 2003 left him mobility challenged but refocused on the things that matter most in life—God and relationships.
The most important of those relationships was with his wife Nancy and his two lovely daughters. Losing his wife to ovarian cancer in 2016 put him on a quest to cure cancer and be of service to humanity.
Geoff has a new soul mate love, Susan Meyers. As snowbirds they winter on Paradise Island, Florida, and summer in Kenora, Ontario, at the family cottage on Castlerock Island in Lake of the Woods.
Geoff has written two papers entitled “Scientific Predictions of the Urantia Book,” one in 1985 which he co-authored with Irwin Ginsburg, and an update which he presented at the 2013 UAI international Conference in Amsterdam. His most recent work, “Plausible Physiological Mechanisms for Thought Adjuster Communication,” was presented at the Urantia Book Fellowship’s IC23.
