If you schedule your cancelation they will call you back before that date and give you any deal you want.

You’d think they would want to entice you to be a loyal customer, like discounts only “OG/veteran” users get, but now they punish their loyal customers?

If they had youtube in the 90s my dad would be on here showing you how to steal your neighbors cable

I cancelled Spectrum for continually raising prices. When I called to cancel, the representative would not stop trying to get me to stay with Spectrum. I eventually yelled at him… LOUDLY and then he closed my account. 🙄😤

Every time you switch providers theres a credit check so if someone wants to do this make sure you have good enough credit to pass 🤣

Don't forget the $100 activation fee. And the 2 week delay to have technician set it up again 🤣

Bro, I've worked for spectrum for 5 years. This shit doesn't work. You may get a discount temporarily, but their fraud detection team will pick up on this. Not a life hack.

My dad did this before with a local Internet company for almost a decade. They finally told him he had to stop, so he used a different provider. That local company went out of business the next year.

Did this by having my spouse sign up got a call from spectrum telling me someone at my address signed up for a new service. Told them how I wanted the lower rate and they didn’t want to give it to me so she was going to sign up as she was a new customer. Then they proceeded to tell me that wasn’t allowed and I’m breaking the law… I guess they have a law book I don’t know about.

Then they connected me with the proper team to get me back on a promo rate for 2 years.

Usually have to use something different, such as name, or email etc. Some of the places have a 6 month or year requirement to prevent this.

Back when my wife and I had xfinity, if you tried that they’d make you wait for an entire month before signing back up because the service went based off the address the internet was connected to rather than the person. I don’t think they do that anymore though.

My mom always has to threaten to leave and they always hit her up with a last place bargain 😂

If you schedule a cancelation they will often call you or email you the same deal or your same deal with enough bonus features to make it worth it.

Had this happen to me. They attempted to raise it 30 a month after 3 years with them. I basically just asked for customer service said I’ll have to switch to a different provider and asked if they could go back to the lower rate I had. They ended up actually dropping it 20 a month lower than what I was paying instead.

The "I see you now charge less for new contracts than I pay, could I get the new price?" actually worked for me, but in EU if it has anything to do with it.

It's too bad that companies won't do this for their existing customers. We switch back and forth every two years with our cable company. It is a slight hassle but with new customers, they wave the installation fee, etc. and guarantee the price for two years. We do this with our internet company, too.

This is why I love T-Mobile and their newly released home internet! Everyone gets the same perks old or new. We'll see how long this lasts though.

Usually, if you tell them you're canceling, they (optimum at least) will send you to the "retention department" and give discounts to keep you.

I told my mom this years ago. Ever since 2014, my parents have paid $30 a month for 12 months then cancelled the plan when the rate went higher to $50 a month.

Sure that meant having to give up internet for a few days since we returned the modem but after those days passed I went back to my xfinity store to get "new" internet service and it worked.

I didn't have to change the name though or phone number. I just asked for the $30 dollar plan with another associate working.
