Thank you so much. As others have said, you are the only one who has actually explained in a simple way how to do this. I am a seventy three year old grandma, but following your step by step instructions, it worked for me. Many thanks!

I have been trying to get movie files from a 4TB external hard drive to show up on my Tv since Christmas. Looked at every video on the net, none mentioned adding the two folders and files names. It worked a treat! Thanks so much!

You are the man! I created a video highlighting my mom's service as a WASP in WWII that I promised would run on a TV monitor that I'm donating to the WASP museum. Thanks to you, my end to end test with almost all the final equipment was successful very early this morning. Going to put a notation for Playback Assistance by Komos Tech in the credits at the end of the video. Thanks.

Thanks! Made a file folder full of cool motorcycle build pics to play in a loop on a tv in my garage. Man cave madness!

This was so helpful, I was informed yesterday I had to put welcome slides on loop on the new screens at my church. I had no idea what I was doing. Saved my Sunday tomorrow

Some viewers may not be aware that there is a device available that lets you play a video on a USB to a TV and it doesn’t matter what format the USB is. The small device “Philips HD Media Player” connects to the TV with a cable, insert the USB into the device and it will play videos or photos in any format.

I'd like to add that USB playback supports usually work with the current smart tv's but you should also check the codecs that the tv supports. It varies from brand to brand. Been using this trick with an external hard drive for a while now.

Bro do you have any idea how long I’ve been searching for a solution. I even went into camera shops and no one could help me. You’re a star

Thank you so much! I couldn’t get my projector to play the files for the life of me. I’ve never owned a projector before so I wasn’t sure what was wrong at all. I felt crazy following these steps but when it worked I was so beyond thankful!

Thank you! If you have a folder with a bunch of photos and\or videos will it automatically cycle through? Or would I have to do that manually with the remote? Thanks again!!

This is superb for ordinary people whose TV has a USB A input and even shows the process. This means that a pre-made MP4 USB compilation should play immediately. For those wanting to make USBs of favorite things this gentleman explains by showing. That is the best way.
Mac can be a bit picky and Windows 11 less straightforward than 10 with its old MediaPlayer. A failsafe all codecs free program/app is VLC, which works on Windows, Mac and Linux and MP4 is the format for picture and sound.
Some TVs do not have USB A but have HDMI instead. A cable able to accept the plain USB A thumb drive female at one end and has HDMI male at the other should be recognized by the TV somewhere in the Menu. TAKE CARE TO AVOID A CABLE WHICH IS FOR CHARGING ONLY because it will not carry data.
Some devices have corrective circuitry boxes on them and seldom exceed $50.
Tutorials showing only USB C/Thunderbolt might be okay for the latest equipment but forget the obvious fact that stored movies and/or TVs are usually a good few years old.
This tutorial it outstanding because it does not make that error and enunciation, speed and clarity are top quality.
Thank you.

Thank you so much. I struggled for hours to get my Samsung QLED to play some content that I created as a Christmas gift for my family. I found no help in the Samsung documentation. With your simple steps, I solved the issue in minutes. Thanks again.
