This overdevelopment of Toondah Harbour – gateway to Minjerrabah (Straddie) – stinks. It would trash Moreton Bay, wreck the habitat for endangered migratory birds, create traffic chaos for locals, and the Environment Department told the last government it should have been rejected flat out!

Walker Corporation, one of Australia’s largest property developers (and a generous political donor), has released an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a $1.3 billion development that will trash Toondah Harbour. The project will dredge wetlands for a canal estate with luxury high-rise residences, a hotel and conference centre, retail space and marinas.

The new environment Minister should reject this dodgy, damaging project ASAP.

Oof..
Nice catch on the developer donations to the previous government that overturned recommendations.

Senator Water’s questions also highlights the complicity and complacency of the bureaucracy and the need for the application of a very stiff broom.

This project stinks of corruption on that basis alone it should be scrapped, and the people involved need to be criminally prosecuted.
