Honestly if people wanna reach PUG/premium status, they gotta do a lot more than just grind out RBW. Simply being in 600+ queue or beating so and so PUGs/premium player consistently on the bridge doesn't mean anything at all. There are so many different circumstances in RBW like you said. People can be playing it for fun, or hella competitively, so your performance in RBW really doesn't matter even if you're reaching top 16. RBW has been going on for 10 seasons now, and the super good PUGs/premium players dont really even bother climbing for top 8 so its not that impressive of a feat now compared to like the first 4-5 seasons.

Something more impressive would be like placing well in tourneys/GvGs. Even though GvGs are pretty dead now, what I mean is doing well in those bigger events where everyone is watching. Wqlff was never recognized as a crazy player until he whooped ass in the GvG against GGMEN. He played RBW before but nobody thought he and his other teammates (prot duck etc) were that good, until they actually proved themselves in something more important like GvG. Then after, they began dominating tourneys and boom, Wqlff is known as a cracked out player.

Lots of the new player lack this cause they never make any friends. They get stuck in 0-300 or 300-600 flaming their teammates, caring way too much about climbing ELO. Obviously the PUGs/premium players don't like it when shit teammates whine all the time so they're less inclined to make friends with them too. Since they make no friends, they have nobody to perform in tournies with.

Literally if you wanna do well in tourney's you gotta first of all, be likeable/good enough to get 3 other teammates/buddies to play with. And then secondly, scrim good teams, which also plays into your likeability and skill. Good teams don't really wanna waste their time going 5-0 in scrims all the time, but at the same time, good teams are usually the ones in PUGs/premium, so finding ways to scrim them will actually put your name out there.

Even then, you dont gotta scrim the already good teams. Like when Rice did inguild private games to practice for GvGs. We struggled to find scrims with the "top" guilds at the time like Blood, Annoy, IYN, etc. So we just played a ton of private games amongst ourselves. Lo and behold, we play against Annoy/GGMEN in a GvG, ending 4-5 against them. Even though we ended up throwing our lead, we proved that we're prominent players and built that connection with the "Premium Players" back then.

Idk kinda rambling near the end but yeah, newer players who simply seek to get recognized are just chasing the wrong thing IMO. In the end its all just a game so its better to make friends with people and improve with them. RBW queues are shit bring back private games hahaha !

i agree 100 percent. Side note- with this tho people with "higher" power in ranked are because they are liked not because of skill. There is too many biases for that big of a server and most peoples skills get degraded if they are disliked by the community.

i agree with everything here, especially your points about people caring about everyone else too much, i think the idea of caring about premium or pugs is embarrassing, i think refusing to listen is stupid, i’m worse at pvp than 90% of the server but the fact i listen and communicate makes me the better player. i do agree though, it used to be about how much could i improve and what could i bring to the team, now it’s just kinda how can i pull this team together / how can i still have fun whilst someone’s being toxic. i do think the best way to enjoy queuing is to play with friends, or only play when you know you’re one of the worse players in the queue, for me just means most enjoyment and least pressure. luv u as always gooseygreen

I really miss the old bedwars community ;(

Now* the whole game is basically meant for being competitive (of course in a bad way)
It is just so toxic now

i completely agree, i remember back when i first started playing i was probably one of the worst people on the server lmao but now it’s like regular bedwars where i’m above average and i get first picked or second picked in like all my queues (which shouldn’t happen im literally a bed defender who gets diamonds). i get newgens in my game who have like the biggest egos and wont defend or go dias even though they are nOt very good and some queues are so bad i dont even trust my own teammates to put a bed defense down. i have had multiple games where i tell my teammates not to do something and they’d do it anyways and it’s so frustrating that it killed the game for me so now i just play for fun which like you said ruins the games for others. and as for the pugs situation i remember when ghoulyed got in (i love ghoul) and a bunch of people were basically shitting on him because they thought they were better than him & so they should have gotten in if he did which is like the dumbest mindset ever. lIke be happy for other people & their accomplishments they got to where they are for a reason >:(

You are correct for the most part.
For me, I don't really care about PUGS or being a "premium" player. I care about winning the game.
If I lose I mostly blame myself for it, but you know, sometimes your teammates didn't listen or just walking away.
It is what it is

its turned into a community full of high egos. I can say I have been like that in the past but now its gotten so bad and just creates a toxic environment and takes the fun out of playing ;l

I used to say "I really just play for fun" until I realized that, as a competitive person, I can sweat and still have fun. Some people just act like their teammates are the cause of their losses, rather than just thinking of ways to improve. Idk if that makes sense lol

Before i start i wanna say 2 things
1- Yes this is a late comment i forgot to say this yesterday
2- Im not immune to any of the things that im gonna say and what goose said here. i make mistakes too

Im a s9 new gen player so i dont know how the old days felt but from listening to what goose and other ogs said rbw got fcked by us new gens, some new gens play the game like its supposed to be, its a competitive game like goose said we have the people that like go to queues with their friends and 1st pick them and ruin it for the others, people want to enjoy the game competitively not like normal bw if u want to play with ur friend bw go play doubles or fuck it double q 3s and 4s but dont come to a competitive game where there is like money on the line and play with ur friends and ruin it for the other 1-2 players on the team.

And for pugs, i relised i cared way to much about it, and i feel like 75% of the people that are actually part of the community are in pugs and soon to be everyone, my solution to this dont think u deserve pugs just because u like killed a prem player once or like won a game against a pugs player and where the staff got it wrong they invited the "good" players not the god players or the s tier players like what premium used to be, honestly either delete pugs and make actual prem players get prem role and play in rbw discord like what it used to be.

And a huge part goose stated in his video dont blame everyloss on ur teammate, dont call him bad or garbage if they make a mistake or 2, because ur just letting him down and it will make him play worse, but also dont play like its casuals or like dont play when ur not trying or u feel like ur playing bad, this is the only reason people play ranked and ur destroying its purpose, the way to fix this imo do a queue in the beggining of every season where people need to win 5 or more games to access ranked queues like what u see in practice servers so not some random people get in and ruin it for u, its also a way to bypass hackers, alts and snipers before they play ranked and ruin it for others, and another thing i would like to add im reading udummies comment while im typing this and some things he stated r wrong, if u get top 16 or top 8 its amazing because u also dont find randoms getting it, its also hard to get it when u have to fight players in 600+.

Another thing dont think ur like the new bombies or the new prime wolf when u join or u think u will be in no time, no one enters ranked as a god tier player, u need to learn, i still have so much to learn from s tier players before i even become close to one, i joined ranked as a player who dosent use movements and basically hold w all the time, and in the span of 6 months i learned a - d tapping w tapping which are basics u need to play ranked, i didnt q until i felt like i was good enough in doubles s10 ssn, my game sense needs alot of work defo and my pvp has room for improvement.

A REALLY big thing i want to state dont play ranked to practice ur pvp or see how good u r against good players, like if ur practicing jitter dont q until u master it. u can wait around until casual qs so u can test if ur good or not with it.

Last thing i would like to state and this is dont think ranked bw is too big of a community because it has 17k people, i can barely count 100 people who i can classify as part of the community and by being part of the community u need to be active in chat, well known in the ranked community, play alot etc. and there arent many people who have one of the things i stated most people either joined because they think rbw will make them a god instantly and quit because it wasnt working for them, or either like marion just quit the game or taking a break from it idk who just like vibing here and there with the community or just join because their favourite yt plays it and they dont play it at all like gqtor, notnico, sammygreen etc. and thats where most people come from.

Unseated, Sktchi admins and all the staff they designed ranked as fun as they could make it for us and we r fucking it up while they take alot of time out of their day to work on the server and especially bot devs like connor, and screensharers like caves and kills whos jobs take time and skill.

The main point here focus on yourself not others, focus on ur skill not the others skill, focus on ur path to pugs/prem not the people in pugs/prem, ranked is ranked not pugs discord sever nor premium role.

oh and stop bming people for small mistakes.

I think I have way too many conflicting opinions on this topic. I can start with where I am now. Last season before I got ranked banned lol, it was pure pvp and I decided I wouldn’t really try that hard at all and just buy like gold picks every rush for example. Of course even when I say this just because I’m an all stars champion my teammates in the non 600+ queues think I’m just being the best player and are blinded by it. I didn’t want to reach 600 in season 10, as I’ve played too much pugs and also it’s gonna be way too toxic to spend 40 minutes only to get yelled at by teammates when you lose. As someone who actively strived for this incredible “premium status” every single day since it came out, I think I can have some different perspective here. I think they should’ve given more clarity to premium. No two premiums give me the same answer when I ask them to define it. The staff should say hey, you have to be pretty good but also vibe with the good players if you want to get it. Begging won’t help. I think just having somewhere state exactly what it was and ways to up your chances of getting it, would have been a nice touch when it was relevant. Now that I’m in pugs, I realize that premium really didn’t mean anything and wasn’t worth all the crying. I had to have it myself to see that. I don’t care about premium anymore, only because now I have that perspective. I think that’s the reason why everyone wants it so bad, they want to feel included. After I was “included” into pugs, nothing really changed. But it’s hard to see it like that when it’s said it’s for prestigious players who have to get voted in and be liked. I agree with a lot of what you said, just I feel there’s no way to have the full story without some bias, as you are in premium and have that perspective while a newgen has that perspective and so on. It’s a really difficult topic to debate, and I respect everyone’s opinion on it.

I get where you’re coming from but my issue is that when I joined in like s5 or s6, people would just call me shit and brain dead, they wouldn’t tell me what I was doing wrong. Coming from an FPS and osu background, I wasn’t bad at pvp at the slightest, I flawlessed some guy starting with the letters koz in my first few games of ranked, and apparently he was considered an S tier player according to my teammates. But I didn’t have the situational awareness bc I was new to mc as a whole. So, I touched up on my fundamentals for PvP (or whatever you want to refer to aim, cps, movement, etc. as), and I would review my games and the mistakes I made in my head. Then I would shadowbox and theory craft on what I could do during these situations, and I would ask pretty chill players questions when I was stuck. And then in my last couple of seasons (s7 or s8), I was a pretty solid player, I admit there were times when I was inconsistent but that was due to me being mentally drained and exhausted. I didn’t have a way to just play casual privates because I didn’t have a friend group in rbw, until my last season, and an unranked queue just didn’t exist during the seasons. Then, my last season I was just fed up with everything about this community, newer and older people in the community wouldn’t listen and would still put themselves in bad situations, people would lose confidence when pitted against better players (or get overly confident, expect 1 or 2 people to carry, and just not try), and most of the older players would still be toxic and not give helpful advice (I do admit a lot of the toxicity rubbed off on me, but I tried to give advice about improvement and team fights no matter how agitated I was). I moved to fighting games and I’m having a lot more fun. If you don’t remember me from my pfp, idrc
