Underrated film and never even heard of it until I caught it late night on cable in 1989 while in middle school....when the US invaded Afghanistan, I knew our fate would be the same as the Soviets.

Saw this movie at 4am in the morning a couple years ago and by the time this scene came up I started to cry a bit, it's quite sad and touching that both Konstatine & Taj became friends but neither of their sides could care because they're enemies to each other and no amount of camaraderie would change their minds, Him leaving was the only reasonable & rational thing to do but it also meant that he had to leave his new friend/comrade behind.

(Sorry if this is a pretty long read for anyone that has read this.)

This ending reminds me of a place I once was. It was bad it was good and I will never regret being there.

Brothers bound by a job who had no real choice but to go their separate ways at the end. Rough ending but inevitable to a great film. Great Isham score as well

One of my favorite movies ever. Every now and then I watch it again, and it's as if I'm watching it for the first time once more. The ending scene is simply amazing.

Impressionnant final.
Musique envoûtante.
Un film de guerre différent.
Sable, poussière pour un combat inégal.
Jason Patric et Steven Bauer impeccables.
Grand film dans une atmosphère lunaire.
