Northern lights seen in Hawaii! First time in over a century

The aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, was visible above the islands early Saturday morning, for the first time in over a century.

I saw them only once, in Seattle, 24 years ago. In October 2003, the K index was 9, but there were no sightings in Hawaii. On Friday, tte K index was 8, and they were seen at South Point! Unfortunately I live in Hilo, where it was storming rain.

Oh, well - hopefully I'll see tgem when I vacation in Oregon this summer.

Buggah was full clouds everywhere but deep south big Island. Knew it

I checked with NOAA's space observer explorer's data post this supposed CME and there was no chance this Aurora was visible from Hawaii. There was 0% probability even 2800 miles north of Hawaii.

Airline pilots didn't even see in transit near Hawaii and they're up 30, 000 ft ++

All night in Honolulu I was seeing purple lightning. I wonder if this was part of the reason? I mean, it was LIGHTNING. But, it was definitely purple also (by eye and camera). In some big fluffy clouds. No thunder.
