Still don’t see how a log cabin can be classed as a permanent structure.. you should be able to live on your own land!

Mmmmm, but it's fine if you're a multi million pound developer with tons of money to then by as much land as you can and then build thousands of homes on and then sell for huge profits. But no, here you can buy and acre of woodland for an insane amount of money and go camping 28 days a We remind me again why people would buy your overpriced woodland? The planning laws are rediculous and it's fine for when Tesco want to build a huge store infront of my house or bovis homes want to build 1000 new builds or a new high speed railway needs erecting across the country but when someone wants to build an eco cabin in THIER woods they Great Britain. But you can go and get a mortgage for 30years for 300 grand to buy your 1 bed flat to keep this insane property bubble going to make the wealthy even more rich!

If nobody sees you coming and going, how on earth do they "know" you spent more than 28 days a year "camping" ?

I understand the reasons behind the laws but surely they have to have some leanience if you wish to live a low impact lifestyle on your land

What if I want to start a iron age settlement with display huts for the local community to enjoy its been a long-term passion of mine to tech schools and the local public.

This really discourages people from wanting to actually buy woodland, take all the fun out of it. I’m moving to another country.

Technically there is nothing stopping anyone doing it in the reverse. Buy a piece of farmland, build your log cabin and then plant your woodland around it. It may take awhile to establish but you and generations to come will get to enjoy it. Also think of the multitude of wildlife that will be able to have the security of a new home that would not have necessarily have been planted there but by the dreams of one person/family to live in a simple cabin in the woods

It's quite possible to live in the countryside, it just has to be done in a certain way.

Its seems that all you get to do is buy the land and maintain it so the coucil dont have to.

camper van living is much better than woodland because no one can dictate to you how long you can stay in it.

This is unf somewhat of a bad idea, 30% of Britain needs to be wilderness and national forest for all without squatters building huts inside
