It's Evgeni Malkin's world and we're just living in it. Malkin has turned back the clock to start the 2024=25 season and it continued on Monday night in Montreal. Hunter and Patrick discuss the Penguins win over the Canadiens and how Geno played a huge part in that victory. They also discuss how this season feels different early on as the Penguins are getting something they have so sorely missed the last couple of seasons - depth scoring! They look at how the depth is helping out the stars this year before discussing Tristan Jarry and his mixed performance. They look at the goals he gave up before he gave them a solid 20 minutes in the third period. Finally, they dive into Jesse Puljujarvi's game and how he should never come out of the lineup before doing a look ahead for the rest of the week.

Pens scored 6+ goals eight times last season (7+ only twice). Already (2) 6+ games in the first four.

Through a small sample size, the bottom 6 definitely looks better than the past two seasons. Granted it's four games, but looking at this bottom 6 of two years ago to now, you can see a difference.

If Geno keeps passing like he's Gretzky - Raks may net 40 this year.

The Pens have a more competitive spirit. In the last 2 years a game last night they would've lost. Going up 2 then down by one. Understandably only 4 games, but the bottom 6 is looking better. Having Eller, Hayes with their experience and leadership hopefully will give us that extra push?? Great show guys!!

Geno is on a new level. Skating, vision, and playmaking by Geno.
Bunting has yet to reach last years impact.

Please put doc back on the first line. There are many reasons why he should be there over beau, but ultimately that line was huge at the end of last season. Why mess with that. Doc has been on 3 lines in 4 games. Build and continue chemistry, why mess that up. Beau is a haglen type and is great for a 3lw role.

Crosby should have had an assist last night. Rust was robbed point blank by montembeult. Probably didn't spell that right. The pens are playing good hockey. Worried about d and goaltending. Can't give up 3 to 4 goals against the better teams and come out with a win. 2 horrible bounces in the toronto game led to goals. Nothing blomqvist could do about that. Buffalo tomorrow. Hoping for a good result. I agree on mcgroarty. He hasn't been bad when playing but not being noticeable either. A stint in wbs would do him good and when recalled stick him on crosby's left wing. Beauvillier's been ok but would be better in bottom 6 role. Hayes has done some good things soo far. 2 goals in 4 games in a 4th line role isn't to shabby

Sids board battles have been vintage very rarely does he lose them, I think Rust not up to game speed yet is the biggest hump right now, Fun fact: all goals scored last night are by 30+ year olds young mans game, haha

Pat I agree with you on the first goal that dude needs to be moved it wasnt that Jarry was slow he didnt know where the puck was. This is exactly what everyone has been saying about a net front presence take the goalies eyes away and voila, unfortunately it was for the other guys. I have played nets before your eyes are your first line of defense

The Western Canada road trip is very difficult, but I would rather get that road trip out of the way in October than have to go out there in February or March. I know the players would much rather go to Winnipeg in October, than go there in December, January, or February heck even November. After October, it gets freezing cold in Winnipeg lol.

Which line do you guys think lizotte will be on when he gets back?

Doesn't anybody get tired of seeing the penguins blow 2 goal leads.... It's really a trend that started back in the ranges playoff series 3 years ago and has continued to this point.
Personally I think by now we know who Jarry is. He's never going to win you anything meaningful but also with that being said Sullivan is the main culprit and shouldn't even be coaching this team anymore

Better forwards this year but defense refuses to throw a body check in their own zone, it will come back to haunt them, AGAIN AND AGAIN !

I do agree with Patrick on not blaming Jarry
