Welcome to Archinest, where today we explore the architectural marvel Casa Oruç, designed by Saavedra Arquitectos and located in the stunning, mountainous region of Mineral del Monte, Hidalgo, Mexico. Nestled in a forest surrounded by cliffs and mist, this unique home embraces the rugged natural landscape while providing an inviting sanctuary for its owners, Lore and Carlos, and their guests.

Casa Oruç is more than just a residence; it’s a space that brings people together. The design centers around Lore and Carlos' love for hosting friends, blending open, interconnected spaces with cozy corners for rest and relaxation. The home begins at the highest point of the sloped terrain, hidden among pine trees, and gradually unfolds as you cross a bridge into a tower structure that shelters the living room.

This house plays with materials and textures, alternating between black exposed concrete and fluted concrete blocks. Its inverted double-sloped roofs not only create striking architectural lines but also collect rainwater, directing it into a water tank like a natural waterfall, integrating sustainable design into the project. The cantilevered sections of the house, some suspended 25 feet above ground, offer breathtaking views of the surrounding forest, allowing sunlight to flood the interior spaces despite the dense canopy of trees.

From the expansive open-plan living room and terrace to the floating bedrooms high among the treetops, Casa Oruç captures the essence of living harmoniously with nature. It’s a home designed for connection — with nature, with loved ones, and with oneself.

Join us as we dive into the details of this floating mountain retreat, a home that started as a dream for two and became a reality for three, including their dog, Oruç. Discover how Casa Oruç creates a balance between rustic charm and modern elegance, all while embracing its wild, forested surroundings.
