Step ups can introduce more flare and optical problems because of the added distance. It also blocks the use of hoods in most cases. Good option for budget purposes, but if you can afford it, grab a filter for every lens.

I don't even need this absolute tool but yet feel encouraged to be more smarter about things I buy over time ☺️

It's exactly what I did, the only thing you gotta look out for is when using a step up ring with some filters you will see the filter frame on the edge of your photos. Not that huge a deal as you can crop it out in the final image, but just keep that in mind when taking the photos

I just barely found this channel, I don’t subscribe to many channels but this one has helped me a lot already. Awesome content!

That's the best solution, it's cheap and super compact as well. I bought into the Revoring thing and it's not as good as I expected. The rings are bulky and they are a pain to use with VNDs becase the thread can't really lock into the lens like a normal ring would due to the nature of the design. That can cause you to unscrew the Revoring from the lens when making adjustments on your VND. Hopefully it's just my copy, but I was frustrated by that.

I wish I knew about this kind of step up rings a little sooner, though. I use a 58-82mm step up ring all the time and I know for a fact the Revorings I bought are gonna collect dust when the rest finally arrive. 🤣

I found out about these at a recent shoot and was wondering why I don’t see more people using these!

I have a filter for every lens just because of convenience, I also have an extra two per lens, one of those extras is cracked for every lens. I typically only carry two lens other than the one on my camera so in total about 9 filters in my bag at any time. The cracked ones are used to create light refractions which do look pretty neat, you can find videos on it if you’d like.

My plan for the PolarPro lenses! Get their stepup ring as well!

Yup! Got multiple step up rings for my vintage glass. I do actually have multiple filters though, kinda considering selling one lol

I have a 26 MP APS-C camera. Can I use the 67mm Nisi ND Vario with the step up ring on the 55mm without losing quality?
