You can even use one to conduct a big-band jazz orchestra---playing songs like Swing Swing Swing.

If you ever played Mario Kart and you hear the warning alarm blaring from your Wii Remote, then it adds an extra layer of fear because that Red Shell or Blue Shell will ruin your career.

I thought this was going to mention the ability for the Wii Remote to store save data. I specifically remember using it for Monster Hunter Tri arena data. You could transfer data to your wii remote and take it to a friend's house to play some arena, then reap the rewards when you returned home. This was the most unique feature to me that I'm sure is more forgotten.

Trying to quietly play Smash Bros Brawl at night so you don’t wake anyone up and the characters loudly going “AGGGGH” through the wiimote. Memories

Playing mario kart wii with it is a treat to the ears. The blinging sounds of getting a trick, the blaring alarm sounds from a shell chasing you, the warning sounds of other items being used nearby, even the sounds of hitting a wall, a fence, or landing on the ground are just sooo satisfying to hear

Calling is a horror game where you put your Wii remote to your ears when you get a phone call in game and you can listen to the phone call through your Wii remote. It makes things way scarier than without it and is a must play imo

Don’t forget about Smash Brawl. Link yelling and captain falcon screaming is still to this day both hilarious and nostalgic

“There is one subtle important feature that the switch Joycons lack.”

*That they actually WORK WITHOUT DRIFTING.*

I think my favorite use of the wiimote speaker is No More Heroes
on the wii version, whenever you get a phone call the remote vibrates and when you answer it the audio from that phone call comes through the wiimote speaker, so you have to hold it to your head like a phone to hear the dialogue

Real gamers remember the fighters talking to you via the Wii mic in Brawl.

even after all these years, i still miss the fighters sound effects coming out of the wiimote speaker in brawl when you selected them, it added so much personality

If the JoyCons don’t have a speaker, then that’s some very impressive rumble I hear when it’s my turn in Super Mario Party.

For a console from 2006, this innovation changed our lives

The Wii's pointer-based controls allowed for some really cool stuff. FPS games on Wii are such a unique experience.

Ever tried playing smash bros at night and trying not to wake anyone up only to get Kirby yelling through the remote

The fact that the Wii remote has an expansion port for other controllers in itself I find very cool

The "memory card" extra hidden feature was neat when pepole had a game night, so anyone could bring their wiimote, install their Mii on the host wii, and play with their character

my only beef with the speaker is that in mario party 8, if you shake the remote while another player is going, the remote will make a taunting sound (toadette's "boooo!" is forever engraved into my mind)

The Wiimote and the Wii itself were just..incredible. 12 hours of Wii play time almost daily for like a month after we got it as kids…such a fond memory. I can’t think of one thing wrong with the wiimote. The strap issue is basically natural selection and other than that I’ve never ever had one cause a single problem. So fun to play with too and so versatile for what can be done with the motion technology. Like the cool ass grandpa that started the family that the newer gen wants to live like. The wiimote is the precursor to everything motion related that we know today. Besides some kind of physical sensation based feedback, the Wii remote checks every box
