Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

More than "Whole Lotta Love", more than "Heartbreaker", this was the track that got people hooked on the album. What a shame the band hated it and never performed it live.

This album was released on November 22, 1969. Almost 52 yrs ago. Let that sink in. Sounds fresh today as it did then. I like other bands. There are so many great musicians but this band is the greatest ever. Period.

I'm amazed at the meticulous production on this song, for 1969 it's so crisp and clean, not the usual muddy sound a lot of older music usually has. Jimmy Page produced this and it shows why he would want control in the booth. I feel the same about Steely Dan.

2:24 I love this very slight variation of the riff. One of the best riffs in the whole of rock, and if you play guitar yourself, one that is very, very addictive lol Led Zeppelin, the perfect rock band in every single way.
