Benny, you finally did it!! I think you mentioned doing a video like this a couple weeks after your wedding. It was awesome. Loved the picture of Yoko in there. 🤣🤣🤣 I can honestly I can hum every solo Elliot Easton has played with The Cars. He’s a master at melodies and hooks

You're speaking the gospel of writing music and the gel of a great project. Kudos bro, there are a lot out here that hopefully will learn some of these important thoughts that make great musicians write great music 🎶

Great advice! Another time, you should talk about the best way to most accurately tune with several types of tuners (ie: Hz, strobe, etc.) — show people how to properly dial it in with a tuner. I’ve heard so many opinions it’s not funny. We need facts! It sounds simple, but it’s incredible how many people think they are in tune and are clearly totally unaware that they’re slightly off base — or very much off.

The big thing is do you aim for the note to start on the correct pitch or decay on the correct pitch? I know it’ll never be 100%, but I think that’s a major reason people are often out of whack with themselves and/or with others (or a recording).

Also throws people when a song wasn’t recorded in 440Hz and they don’t realize or understand that’s even a thing that’ll totally change the way you tune. You’d think people would realize something is off just by listening, but somehow lots of people are apparently tone deaf and not training/using their ears!

The worst one for me is when people don’t use a tuner and try to use the next string over to help them. Pretty useless when those strings are likely out of tune as well, lol.

I mean, there’s more stuff, . . . but people, learn to use a tuner and your ears correctly — and actually use them every time!

Mahalo for the tips Benny. Mr Gilmour...none better to my ears! Great example for sure. With him less is more and he is so melodic. We all have so much to learn from him...

Great video Benny - good tips. There really isn't any substitute for playing with other people - and no excuse for being out of tune. Peace - UDAMAN!

Benny, You and I live only about an hour apart. I would love to one day be able to come see your studio and maybe jam a bit!

First, I see that Brian May guitar in the background! When you talked about layering, you didn't mention the master, Dr. May. Playing the same riff with different tones. Gotta say, playing music with others and doing what's best for a song are probably the two most important things you mentioned. I learned so much and broadened my musical chops by working with other musicians. Nothing like a bandmate saying "Why do you play all your solos syncopated? How about playing something on the beat?" Also, so many musicians I've seen are more about filling the space with their thing than being willing to play what the song NEEDS. Again, as you said, listen to Brian May. How much guitar is in Killer Queen or Millionaire Waltz? Exactly.

Was on the fence on getting a decent deal on a minty 1st Production Run Robot and was wishy-washy on it as I already own a metallic red robot which I love. Saw your video thumbnail and took it as a sign and pulled the trigger. Thanks for the vid. #6 is the least amount of help to me as I will never play with others, as it's just not my thing, but the other 5 are great tips. Cheers
