Global Development Policy Center’s Inaugural Ceremony with Address by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

The 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, keynoted the inaugural ceremony for the Global Development Policy Center (GDP Center) on February 28th, 2018 at Boston University. Secretary-General Ban delivered his talk titled, “Sustainable Development Goals & Global Citizenship” to an audience of over 200 faculty, staff, students, alumni, and guests, and it was livestreamed to the GDP Center’s global network. He urged the audience to “lead by example, always” and reminded listeners that “sustainable development requires strong academic partners.”
The GDP Center’s mission is to advance policy-oriented research for financial stability, human well-being, and environmental sustainability across the globe. In his remarks introducing both Secretary-General Ban and the GDP Center, Professor Kevin Gallagher said, “If there is one leader that embodies all these qualities in our mission, it is Secretary-General Ban.”
