Meet Eva, non-Hodgkin lymphoma survivor
At 18 years old Eva Paxton joined a roller derby team and after one season she started her own - the Salisbury Roller Girls! This is the kind of determination that helped Eva survive her Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL).
Talking candidly about her survival Eva tells us that at 19 after a visit to the ER in the middle of the night, she was diagnosed with NHL. Surgery not being an option, she started chemo. Through the grueling treatment, Eva continued to be positive and spend time with family and the people she loves.
She also credits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's funding of Rituxin, a breakthrough drug that helped save her life. Two weeks after treatment ended Eva participated in and finished a Team In Training triathlon. She believes that because more and more people are surviving blood cancers, that every patient diagnosed will be able to say: "Someday is today!"
