love the gameplay, but the lack of offline game modes is definietely keeping this game from being decent...also, edit mode is needed since there has been an improvement for fake players and is very boring to see teams withouth license. As of now, we just have to wait until any offline mode drops (surely to be bought)

I think in terms of gameplay they have improved the game.

In my opinion they improved:
- Responsivness
- AI
- Slightly better graphics
- Slightly improved goalies

If I talk only about what is happening on the pitch during the match, here are my issues:

1) Goalkeepers
They are still making unnatural super jumps... if the ball goes so high, the goalie shall punch the ball. Not to jump so high and comfortably save it to the hands.
Generally the majority of the saves feels awkward, the deflections feel unnatural.
Hopefully Konami will invest in motion capturing the goalkeepers.

2) Crowds
Even though the flags have been added, still its dissapointing to see the crows in low framerate and not really reacting what is happening on the pitch.
I would add some pyros, choreos. This would be nice for example for derby matches in ML when it comes.

3) Scoreboards, stats UI
I hope one day, they will replace the scoreboards, pre-match presentation, stats with more eye appealing color scheme, fonts and design in general. It looks juvenile with this font and color scheme.

4) Audio
I do not really like the sound of kicking the ball, crowds, nearly no chants. Also the commentators are bit boring and sometimes it feels off. They use nearly the same lines at the beggining of each match.

5) Net physics
Still it does not look good. I do not think it should be that hard...

6) Penalty kicks
I think penalty kicks are harder to score than to save, at least in my opinion its much easier than in EA football. Most of the time, its enough just to guess the right direction and thats it. It does not matter if you go low or high.

In general, its gets better and on PC at 4K it looks really decent. However I would also appreciate 144hz support. But I guess they have really issues with optimizing the game and with the UE in general, so this will probably take much more time.

Hahaha i just remember what you said last week…

“This is the LEAST excited I've ever been around the launch of a football game.”

The lower expectation worked really well. I didn’t expect anything from this 2024 game neither. After I played against super Star difficulty, I think I really enjoyed and liked the gameplay. Hopefully some new offline mode would be added soon.

Im in love with the game again (online pvp). Now players that are bad at defending will concede goals . There is much more skill gap . I hope they will work in that direction !

harder to defend
more control of players, more dribbling matters, better passes, better shootings, a lot of new animations of defenders, goalkeepes, strikers. the best modification of the game since pes 2020

Unfortunately the stopping when you lose the ball still happens online and it’s the bane of this game

happy that you are back, since i loved your work on 2021, and as you pointed it out that ef2024 is being somewhat similar, can’t wait for more content and impressions on your end

I think if you want your goalkeeper to come out more often, he needs to have an "offensive goalkeeper" playstyle, as opposed to "defensive goalkeeper"

Still far behind traditional PES quality in every aspect. It’s a shame.👎

The problem is that it's been 2 years and i can't play coop with my friends in matchmaking
non of my dozens of friends play it anymore because of that
it's insane they dont implement something THAT ALREADY EXISTED FOR YEARS

It's so frustrating that there's no master league. I've been playing Football Life 23 because the gameplay feels so much better paced than Fifa, but I've bought the new FC 24 because I want to play career mode - I wish Konami would realise how many people would actually buy their game if they ditched the free model and put master league back in.

With the lowest expectations, u can feel some good changes in this game. But far away from PES...
Dribbling is Fifa- like, the terrains and lights in-game still awful, the menu uninspiring, fps drops, but the main thing is - I can't see myself engaging in any eFootball game, because there are patches who fix something but broking some elese instead. So still no go.

Excellent review 👍

The game is definitely more fun to play but issues still remain. The biggest issue for me is passing on FUMA - specifically the game's inability to identify the correct player to receive a pass - and this has barely improved after two years.

Also I'm glad you mentioned players choosing to kick the ball with their weaker foot when it's not appropriate - this drives me insane!

I really wish Konami would've focussed on updating PES 21 for the last few years while having another team work on efootball. A few months ago I got really into PES 21 again and played hella games, played like 4 or 5 seasons of master league and had a great time. Truth is it's still the best football game out right now, I've tried FIFA and it's ok for what it is but nothing scratches my football game itch quite like PES does and these last few years of efootball have been a disappointment. We're in like year 3 of this experiment and still no master league, wtf? I wish I gamed on PC, I would've been satisfied with one of the PES 21 mods out there, shit konami should just get one of those and port it to the PS4/5 and we're gucci.

Lovely to have to you back reviewing PES. Unfortunately, I am still gonna stick to PES 2021 for my master League fix

Not sure if this is the first on Unreal Engine, however they decided to revamp the game to end up with a better experience, and it was going to take a few years at least. With '24 they are moving in the right direction, now give us Offline modes!

Good review, I agree with much of it.. I am still getting used to the update but think, the more you play, the more it will be enjoyable. Biggest issue is defending. I am still struggling to defend with any confidence but a lot of that is memory muscle and trying to make work what worked before. In particular match up. I used it massively before the update and now it little more than a jokey command except when the ball is very near. And if you mash it like I used to it just makes defenders more static. Once I realised that I started to defend better…but it’s not easy, the balance between offence and defence is not quite right.

I'm surprised this community likes it because it has more arcadey aspects that I like. You can actually pass and dribble, it's not realistic but I guess the slap of responsiveness from the past 2 years has made the community understand a video game needs to work properly.

I genuinely think eFootball can surprise everyone in 2 years if it keeps going. They'll eventually end up with a refined version of PES 19 which to me at least is the perfect balance of responsiveness from PES 18 and realism from PES 20 onwards.

Greetings from Turkey which I have been in for 1 month or so now Spoony Big Brother. Stayed at istanbul for 3 days and then the rest of the days I have been at Gaziantep my parents hometown. When we first arrived at Antep it was 40 plus degrees for like 3 or 4 weeks. Just recently the last 2 week or last 1 week the weather temperature dropped and we felt cold wind and temperature. Going back to Australia on the 25th this month. Going to stay at istanbul again at my Big Brothers and his Wifes house for like maybe 5 or 3 days depending on when we go to istanbul. Also depending on my Dad's Teeth implant will decide on when we will go to istanbul. Hoping everything goes according to plan and we can stay at istanbul for a bit longer. Peace, Love and Blessings Spoony Big Brother. ❤

Imo the next big thing they should tackle is the screen being frozen before replays. Once someone mentioned it I couldn't unsee it anymore.
I mean they have animations for throw ins and goal kicks without having the replay screen appear so why don't they try to remove the frozen screens when you want to skip a replay like in fifa.
And of course: TO ADD EDIT MODE.
I literally would have enough stuff to do with that for over 2 weeks at least which is more than I've ever played efootball until now
