I feel like ASL goes beyond a foreign language for a hearing person - i mean it's nice to experience hearing a different language but most of the time there's not much you can understand, so sometimes it can be hard to relate the speaker, but with a signed language for those who can observe it, I feel like occasionally you can appreciate some visual cues that make sense to you even though you have never learned ASL. I like that it makes me feel connected to someone who essentially is experiencing the world in another language that is different to mine.
