Compost Worm Bin After 100 Days + Early Checkin of Food Scraps vs Dry Oats | Vermicompost Worm Farm

Compare what a worm bin should look like after 100 days of red wigglers turning shredded cardboard & food scraps into natural fertilizer & soil amendments in the form of worm castings! Plus we checkin on the food scraps versus pulverized dry oats experiment!

In this video we run into some more pot worms in the oats section & do a mite time lapse in the skin of an avocado. We also gave them some more tea bags & spun bedding & finally we added another feeding on one side of the bin to test out if the worms will migrate over.

Happy Vermicomposting Everyone!!!🪱🪱🪱

Yay 100! Those oats never stood a chance. Dress rehearsal of a horizontal migration - great idea 👍🏻

That spun bedding is a real winner, disappears much quicker. I’m using it in my nursery tub. I was ridiculously pleased yesterday when I got some fruit trays from the supermarket to spin up for bedding. Thanks for that tip. Also when I’ve been feeding something like the ground oats and chow I give it a little spritz of water, in my head I thought the worms might not like having something scratchy and dry on their skins. Can’t wait for you to try baiting worms out of a manure heap, I really hope you can film that. Thanks again for all your hard work putting out these videos.

Wow that's a lot of mites there in the avocado peel. Those red wriglers are really big now. I'm amazed on how you think of new ideas like puting the food on one side to see the migration that will happen. It also makes me look forward for the result 😀

That was a large colony of mites. I showed this video to my worms and they were terrified. LOL

wormie friend!! 🪱😁 Oh yay they’re 100 days old! That’s interesting that you won’t add any more bedding now….. good to know! I always love the peek into the burlap sack, and there were some wrigglers in there demolishing that tomato! Great to see how they’re going midway with the feed 🙌🏼 I do love that the worms like coffee ☕️ they have good taste 😂 have a wonderful day my friend and stay well! 🪱🙏🤩

I`m amazed that after only four days that your worms managed to munch the last feeding you gave them, but I knew that the oats would be gone.
I use a small plastic basket to get my worms to migrate to one end. They can get in through all the holes in the sides, but I never manage to get ALL my worms to migrate, however it`s just a case of lifting the basket out with all the wrigglers in it. There`s always a few rebels who don`t get the memo lol.

Such an impressive little ecosystem! By the way, it gives me the creeps if the mites start crawling on me when I’m fluffing my bins.

What is the white bedding that you put in before you put the garbanzo beans in? Thank you for your video. You do a great job!

The burlap sack looked like it started breaking down in this video.

Laughing at your mites and pot worms crack me up. I posted a Timelapse of mites and pot worms on a Facebook group about a week ago and the reaction was as if I’m the worst worm composter ever. I was gobsmacked. Do these people really think they don’t have pot worms or mites? Not a single one. 🤦‍♀️
