So this is a very good video if you are already a bit familiar with factor analysis, since he tells you do do a Principle Axis Factoring instead of the default Principle Components Analysis (it will give you a cleaner outcome). All you have to do is look at how many factors your initial scree plot indicates, and then you can enter that value into the "factors to extract" box.

Can you cite the information you are providing. For example, you mentioned the <.2 for the factor correlation in guiding your decision to go with a varimax rotation. What's the source linked to that information? Also, why principal axis? Do you use that method if you are trying to force the factor loadings?
