Body Jig / Rotisserie Warning ( Issues To Look Out For )

After taking some measurements from the basic shut lines we have at the moment and the shell being rotated 180° there is some flex in the rear of the shell. Fitting the shell back on to the chassis to check alignment is a must.

The gaps in body panels is the same thing you experience on door gaps once you start adding the glass the regulator and interior trim to the doors the doors can move and have to be re ajusted to get the correct gaps because of the extra weight there's lots of things to think about when rebuilding a car glad you have put this video out Dave a reminder to us all. Hope your all keeping safe mate Rob

Great video Dave.
Burgundy colour looks fantastic.

Don't suppose the race Mini will be seeing any action any time soon.

good stuff Dave..:) I even had a mini that had so much flex in the uni body that the doors didn't fit on the car when it was on a lift, but when you put the body on the floor the doors fitted.

Hello Dave, I'd definitely go with your choice of colour and they look so much better without mirrors, such a clean and tidy look. Another great video.

Dave. Mr. Uniform here! Don't worry about those gaps too much . As you say inverted it's tensile and right way up compression. You could easily adjust the gaps by adjusting the amount of spacers . Basically, if you put an extra 5mm in the rear attachment points, when you tighten the body down the top will tighten up closing the gaps. Does that make sense? Regarding the colour, did my pictures l sent you of the 140fhc inspire you ?😂😂 l wouldn't be surprised that if you were to refit those rear wings they would gap ok. If you recall l told you about the flexing l experienced with the Lotus Cortinas . Honestly Dave, you really have very little to worry about . So as the song goes "Don't worry ! Be Happy !" Take care and stay safe.

Dave, burgundy with light tan interior looks fantastic...but I also like a lot of the original Old English White with black interior which would be the color combo it left the factory...but your car and your choice...go with your heart as you will need to enjoy it at every look and not thinking "should I have selected a different color"...

Dave, go for the Claret! It’ll really pop in the sun and be very sexy in the shade. Cover the chassis with a sheet body shop film to protect what’s done as best you can. On my mk 2 I welded coat hanger wire to tighten the shut gaps. Cheers 🍻 John

Gotta agree the felt will hold water, maybe Polyurethane ? I see you are a Beatles fan as I have been since 1961, also is that a picture of Samantha Fox ? As for car colour Burgundy and Tan is the way to go, my MKII was Sherwood Green with Forest green interior, but I am going with Carmen Red and Biscuit interior, after all these are our cars we should have what WE want.
