Great explanation of this problem that I have had for almost 2 years. I have one of the question sometimes I have on my camera the image plane says in all views but I can't see the image plane in perspective view.

This helped me a lot! I just have one question, My ground plane is white and I'm trying to intensify my reflection on the invisible plane. I've been messing with the shadow matte materials -- specular and roughness are both in .200. I also increased the IOR. My reflection still looks super light. they almost look like shadows after saving them.
