Some people have always been frightened of bridges. Gephyrophobia sufferers often try to avoid crossing bridges altogether, driving miles out of their way to avoid them. Of course, quite a few bridges can be rough experiences for those with acrophobia, as well.
With some bridges, however, terror seems to be the only sensible response. Here, we look at 12 bridges that would turn anyone’s legs to jelly. Read on, but don’t look down.

Imagine being on trips with my friends and they want to cross these bridges. They can leave me. It’s alright. I’ll just turn around and go home by myself. 🤷‍♀️🙅‍♀️

When you build in extra sway and the sound of breaking glass, OMG that is nuts!

A couple months ago I ran a cross country race that ended on the far side of #11, the Royal Gorge Bridge. The last quarter mile was across the bridge, and I can confirm the whole thing shakes when people are on it, and it has lots of gaps an inch or two wide. There were several people who would have placed high in the race but refused to cross it. It definitely was one of the most memorable race finishes.

I live in Key West and I drive through the 7 mi bridge almost every week and I happen to enjoy it.. the scenery is very calming although at night in the rain is definitely very scary 😁

It requires a perfect mindset and a lot of courage to build this breathtaking infrastructure. I have to leave behind all of my organs before I cross these bridges. But still thanks to those who build them, they still emphasize the beauty of nature. Thanks for this. You earned a subscriber. :)

Wow those are some amazing engineers who design and build these bridges, to design something so different in structure that works to take such great weight is awesome. The village hand made Bridge shows how great small communities can be and they hand make a new bridge every year. How much City dwellers could learn from these people about respect and working together as a community, well done indeed.

I've crossed the Royal Gorge bridge. I could see through the slats to the ground and it swayed badly. I was almost too afraid to cross it again to get back. And the Royal Gorge bridge looks like the least scary one of all the bridges you showed.
