The sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and its allies is expected to badly affect Moscow's defence exports. With most global trade transactions carried out in US dollars, the sanctions will affect countries like India while buying Russian defence equipment.

Indians are not stupid. Without western countries help India successfully develops their own space program and survive using Russian weapons. Now, India has less pressure from Pakistan which has severe economic and corruption problems. The only serious threat to India is China. If Russia can mediate both countries, they can create a very formidable economy block. If African countries join them, western countries are toasted! Of course, it is easier said than done.

At this point, India is left with one option: Push its economy and make use of its human capital to the fullest while succumbing to the demands of the west. An alliance with China will be disastrous and short-lived.

India should join the Russian alternative to SWIFT, which is called SPFS. India can pay Russia in Rupees or Gold instead of USD. Probably more profitable for India anyways.
