On a fine February afternoon, a car appears, driving rather erratically. As I follow cautiously, it becomes evident the driver is distracted by her passengers — plenty of flailing arms and turning heads. Clearly, they're having an important conversation that cannot wait.

After witnessing too many errors in a short time-frame, I decide it's safest to get past before the left lane becomes unusable [parked vehicles ahead]. Ready to brake, I ramp up to the speed limit and approach the car, watching through its windows ...

Now, I may appear animated and excited, but it does not reflect how I feel inside. My goal is to maintain a calm, serene head in order to make clear decisions. Anger and rage only detract from my goal of staying safe.
