Taiwan on alert for 'sudden entry' by Chinese military as Beijing increases defence spending

Taiwan Defence Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng has warned that China's increased military spending this year suggests the island faces a greater military threat from Beijing. He added that the island has to be on alert for a "sudden entry" by the Chinese military into areas close to its territory. Mr Chiu said it could be as close as 12 nautical miles from Taiwan's coastlines, which would be considered a serious threat to the island's security. He added that Taiwan would exercise restraint, but has made preparations to "fire the first shot" if Chinese entities enter its territorial space.

1) In 1894, Japan invaded China and Korea, the Qing gov was defeated and signed the [Treaty of Shimonoseki] to cede Taiwan Island to Japan.
2) During the WW2, at the Cairo Conference held in 1943, China asked the transfer of Taiwan's sovereignty back to China after the war. This content was included in the [Cairo Declaration] and later reiterated in the [Potsdam Proclamation] that it should be implemented.
3) On 14 Aug & 2 Sept 1945, the Emperor and govt of Japan issued the [End War Edict] and [Japanese Instrument of Surrender], Japan surrendered and accepted the [Potsdam Proclamation]. The Japanese troops in Taiwan surrendered to KMT General CKS. Taiwan re-entered the territory of the Republic of China (ROC).
4) Soon after that China civil war broke out between KMT and CCP, the KMT was defeated and fled to Taiwan. However, due to US intervention, the CCP without a strong navy at that time has no ability to unify Taiwan. The CCP then established the People's Republic of China (PRC) on 1949. The civil war
5) In 1971, UN Resolution No. 2758 ruled that the PRC had obtained the representation rights and all legal rights originally owned by the ROC in the UN. That means the PRC is China’s only legal govt under international law, and today the PRC also become China’s only legal govt recognized by 180 countries around the world, including the USA.

Taiwan must evaluate its situation very carefully and hold a referendum together with the next Presidential Election on the Taiwan independence or reunification issue .

Be prepared in the mean time for an all out Communist invasion of Taiwan by end 2025.

1. Instantly prepare 5% of GDP US$40billion as a one off Military spendings in preparation for an invasion.

3. Use the US$40 billion and the addition US$10 billion of US aid very carefully.

4. Fanciful fighter Jets and surface Naval combatants are nice to look at, great feel good factor but most probably useless!

5. The following area are more practical. The A2AD Anti-Access and Area Denial capabilities must be fully upgraded. Anti- Aircraft anti missiles, anti ship and anti tank and armoured capabilities like Patriot System, Isreal's multi layered Iron Shield, Iron dome, Iron Beam system is most ideal. Naval Strike Missiles systems, Himars system, stingers, Javelins and Spike from Isreal.

6. ramp up the local manufacturing of basic 155 mm and other calibre Artillery rounds, bombs, missiles and munitions, also stockpile the raw materials like war will break out
tomorrow.

Have lots of Artillery, tanks and armoured capabilities.

attack targets 1000 plus Km away.
