The Sandman: ENDING EXPLAINED!

In the midst of all the budding extreme comics that came out in the late 80s and 90s there was one comic book written by a soft spoken British writer that didn’t involve punching or kicking or spandex. Instead it told the story of the fickle lives of the Endless beings that controlled the seven key aspects of existence, Destruction, Desire, Despair, Delirium (formerly Delight), Death, Destiny and of course Dream, the Sandman. All of these things shape our lives and drive our decisions enough that they have manifested into realms that the Endless guard, mostly with a detached air of indifference or in the case of Desire, sometimes out right malice or at the very least a total lack of concern over consequences. The popular comic series help eventually launch DC’s prestige label Vertigo that contained more contemplative stories. Where other comics where reaching for adult audiences with more extreme violence and darker anti-heroes, the Vertigo stories leaned more on the complexities of and moral ambiguities that are raised in the light of immeasurable power or unique circumstances. The Netflix series that brings the long awaited live action adaptation to life has stayed close to the source material including some of its more enigmatic story elements like spurned lovers from 10,000 years ago and a member of the Endless that just up and quit his job. Let’s go into what exactly happened and what the comics can tell us about what might be coming next should it survive Netflix’s swinging cancellation axe. What was your favorite part of the adaptation? Which Sandman story do you hope makes it? Let us know in the comments and while you’re there be sure to like and subscribe while you’re there for all the latest content.

even with the actor playing The Dream not saying a single word throughout maybe the first two episodes i’d say ?? at least Ep. 1 i know for sure, even with that holding him back from wow’ing the audience i just knew that he was gonna mail his role as the Sandman

As a fan of the original comic books and one who doesn't have a Netflix account, I'm still iffy on this show but I do want to give it a shot nonetheless.
