My recent trip to West Hollywood was incredible. Not only did I check off one bucket list item - Coachella.... I was able to visit Andrew Jones studio, measurement facility, and listening room.

Also, Steve McCormack joined me, so that was 2 icons in the industry I was able to enjoy for 2 hours.

I'll have several videos related to this visit since we were there 2 hours, but I didn't video everything.

Thus, this video sets the stage via a zoom Steve and I did talking about many of the things I didn't view, but we felt was important to share in somewhat laymen's terms.

Hardcore audiophiles should find this fascinating as well as future episodes of this series.

I forgot to talk about the pioneering work he and KEF did in cabinet vibration analysis and how this led to improvements in speaker cabinet design and how to use internal bracing and selective damping to improve the final system. This type of analysis is common throughout the industry now but was fairly new in the late 1970s & '80s. The cabinet design of the new Sourcepoint 10 & 8 show this experience very clearly.

The Sourcepoint speakers are modern classics in a way that nothing from JBL or KLH or even Klipsch is. They will be savored by listeners 30 years from now.

I’m very interested in the loudspeaker Andrew Jones had on the tall stand in the makeshift anechoic chamber. It wasn’t the SourcePoint 8 or 10. Looks like an early prototype of the SourcePoint 8 with double binding posts and 1 large reflex port. But why would AJ be playing around with a prototype of the 8 when the final version exists? Perhaps it’s another version along the SourcePoint line?

Fascinating !!! What audio gear did y'all use in the studio ? I only recognize HiFi Rose AMP and HiFi Rose Streamer... Would love to know what the turntable/cartridge and tube amp were... Thx

I love these videos. Big fan of Steve (still own a DNA-1 and a Micro Drive). I’m very interested in the Sourcepoint 10s. I know Steve’s a Vandersteen fan and wondering about his thoughts on how the MoFi stacks up against his old 3a’s.

Now I am more sorry I did not make it. I will definitely try to visit when he next allows.

I’ve spoken briefly with Andrew a couple of times. Seems like the kind of Gent you’d like to quaff a pint with!

Wow, just my impressions of Bacch!
That it is such leap that everything else is of lower importance in the whole system.
It is almost the next best thing after Stereo were introduced and we went from mono.
It is like someone in the 50-ties sat with their one speaker mono setup and got cost no object mono system. And in the same time thinking that he got as great effect as the neighbors modest stereo system, by sitting on a stol and spinning. 😜

Interearal crosstalk cancellation that Bacch use make the soundstage go from looking at a image of a performance in front of you.
To be that you are attending and sitting (involved) with the performers in the room while they perform!

The speakers truly disappears in a way that not even cost no object can't never ever do (when the work with the traditional stereo scheme and is not canceling anything, and therefore making it easy to pinpoint where the speakers are located in space).

The part that I don't get is why Bacch is not taking of and why not ALL audiophiles are considering this productfication of the old Dr Floyd Toole research is not considered when it is saving investments, time and enhance enjoyment. 🤔

I wish someone around here had the Bacch to demo. Definitely not comfortable spending that kind of money w/o hearing it first

The probably better method than even a large anechoic chamber would be the Klippel Near Field scanner. Certainly better than Andrew's DIY facility. I'm sure MoFi could afford the $100K for the NFS equipment. All those issues you talk about are easily addressed using the NFS and its associated analysis software.
