❤ Dawn, I’ve watched every single one of your videos, and every one brings joy, inspiration, and FREEDOM! You got me through a terrible life transition of divorce, chronic illness, and job loss. When you say at the end of your videos, “I love you, I hope you have a really great day, and I’ll see you again soon, ” I would burst into tears from your sincerity. That 1 thing helped me through BAD days. I love the freedom you give through getting rid of shame, toxicity, negative mindsets, and guilt. “I JUST DIDN’T KNOW” is another favorite mantra now. After all this time my home is a joyful, free, safe and beautiful sanctuary. Minimalism has made dealing with my illness easier, and Tuesdays with you are a God filled moment of hope ❤

I’ve adopted the mantra: “hi I’m Dawn. I don’t keep things in my house that bring up bad crappy memories” - I really really needed that as I was cleaning out some painful photos. Thank you so much for this.

I’m 73! You youngsters have been so helpful to me as I prepare my home for the ease and safety I’ll need now and in the future. One day I decided to get rid of my glass top stove and my stainless steel refrigerator simply because they getting on my last nerve. I was VERY intentional about choosing what I would purchase. First the stove…I wanted white to brighten up my kitchen. Coil burners aren’t super attractive but it sure beats that burned on residue that plagued me. The stainless steel refrigerator had a broken handle that I could have fixed I guess. Spots and stains were all over it. I don’t like those doors for water and I don’t like ice maker ice either. My new refrigerator is bright white, no handles to fall off. No nooks and crannies to worry about. No ice maker and I’m in love with them both!

Your rant was perfectly timed. I just decided to trash my high school yearbooks. They do not bring good memories. They also are not something I would want to leave as a legacy. Thank you!!

Dawn, you deserve that coffee pot if it was triple the price. You are so caring, giving and very frugal with your money. I hope every cup of coffee you drink you say to yourself “I deserve this and more” We love you and your tender heart. ♥️

Before my husband and I moved, I finally decided to trash the photo albums, scrap books and childhood related things my mom had held on for me. I have four sons - I don’t think boys/men care about those things as much. They would appreciate photos of me with them and maybe a few pictures of me from my childhood. I held on to a few treasures but everything else went. I never looked at them, cared that I had those things or thought that my children would want figurines, my old drawings or anything else I had. I saved my children the time and effort later down the road when I pass away also. I didn’t have the fondest memories in childhood and letting those things go felt like a giant weight off my shoulders.

I had a beautiful set of Christmas candle holders—very unique. But they were given to me by a former boss that I detested. Out they went, no more feeling bad.

"Make something beautiful" reminded me of a recent tip from the Midwest Magic Cleaning channel...if cleaning/tidying is hard, think of it as "decorating."

I am a 77 yr old woman who has been watching your Chanel for some time now. My children do not want my stuff so I have been decluttering for some time. I am most surprise by how often I need to declutter. My closet for example, I need to do 3 or 4 times a year. I think I am my local thrift shops favorite contributer.

It's so powerful to reframe the 'mistake' purchases, and instead ask 'What did I learn?'. That mind shift applies to many aspects of life.

You always say it but I never say it back . . . I love you too. Thank you for making a difference in my life.

I grew up with the mindset that you go to garage sales and thrift stores to look for a good deal. Or to buy several of anything if it was on sale. These habits have filled my mom's home with junk she doesn't use. She frantically cleans for a week before any gathering she has. The last 2 years, I've actively tried to unwind these habits that I've inherited. Suddenly, with a decluttered home, I can have guests over any time, cleaning is not a burden, and it's easier than ever to have beneficial routines (like a nightly reset, daily laundry, etc). I had to let go of a lot of things that annoyed my mother in law (who sees value in EVERY item and has given me many things). But I'm glad to have a home I can manage now.

Hello Dawn,
So many comments here, that l'm pretty sure you'll never see this, but l just wanted to say that, honestly, you have helped to structure my headspace and therefore transition my life in a way that l would have never imagined. YOU have given me the confidence to finally make the decisions that l knew l wanted to make, YOU were my guide. It seems odd that someone who has helped me so much, has no idea of her far reaching positivity and uplifting of a fellow human being. God bless you and all branches of your family; l will never forget you.
Sam 🙂 (a thankful 🇬🇧).

I grew up in a tiny, chaotic, cluttered & dirty home — we just didn’t host & didn’t want to. Now as an adult I’m so proud to say that I‘ve just kicked off hosting a group of moms and little children every week for a storytime and song hour. Way out of my comfort zone before simplifying— so glad my space is under control so that (even with two little ones) I have the bandwidth to create this weekly community 💐

This came at the perfect moment. Right now I’ve been so overwhelmed with getting the house decluttered. I go from one room to another and get so overwhelmed! I just love seeing your home and the serenity it brings. 46 years of marriage and all the baggage from those years. Don’t get me wrong, happy times, and great memories, but I have to let go!
I’m 72, my husband is 77. I don’t want my 2 girls to have to go through all this stuff when we’re gone!
I try to start, but get sidetracked so easily!
How do you get the momentum going?
Something always gets in the way. Thanks for all your encouragement Dawn! Guess I’ll just have to keep trying.

I nearly cried today because l am so so grateful to finding you Dawn and learning about it’s ok to let go of things and having less is better. Even my husband is totally shocked at what I’ve let go of.
I will never be able to thank you enough. ☺️

I loved your father’s quote, ‘everybody should have one good bad habit’ what a joy to be raised by people who love and care no matter what! Thanks for inspiring me always!

Thanks, Dawn. This reminds me that awhile back I took a wonderful expensive comforter that I loved to the thrift store. My husband had expressed his hatred for his years earlier (but a few years after I purchased it). It was just sitting in the basement. I realized that it reminded me of him being mad about it, and it was the biggest relief that I could imagine to donate it.

This video is very helpful, thank you. It also reminded me of something Gretchen Rubin and her sister said in their podcast: You can appreciate something you see in a store, think it's so great, and then choose to store it in the store (so to speak), rather than buy it and store it in your home.

Thank you for sharing! ❤ I have no support system. My mother passed away before my first son was born. I don't have friends or other family that I'm close with. It sucks most days not having anyone to talk to, so thank you for your encouragement ❤❤
