"Sora" is being touted as yet another giant leap in artificial intelligence. The latest tool released by OpenAI, the company behind the groundbreaking chatbot ChatGPT, can create realistic-looking videos based on a simple text prompt. But there are concerns over what "Sora" could unleash, and what effect it will have on jobs. DW spoke to Daniel Araya, an AI expert from the Centre for International Governance Innovation.

10 years ago, we humans never even imagined that something like sora could happen in 2024

all data will be fkd going forward including forensic metadata
everything can be generated, edited
final years of data making any sense
save your genuine data, store and backup offline

Sadly, AI looks as if it will make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Those who benefit from being able to leverage AI to their advantage will likely not be too concerned about those whose jobs are lost and who are disenfranchised by the shift. Without very considered and careful management of the consequences, AI could be a huge disaster for our society.

Otherwise this is great but we need serious regulations

It is not enough to think about a world where not everyone is working at full capacity.

We need to think about a world where almost everyone is entirely unemployed. Where people work in very few jobs, mostly because they genuinely enjoy it.

There may be some service program where people work in jobs AI simply can not do for a term - kind of like mandatory military service now ... and then most people never work again.

Solving that much more extreme problem will naturally solve most, if not all, the intermediate state problems the guest described.

We need a legal regulation so that the AI is required to leave a microscopic finger print which allows people to know that it is a computer generated image.

AI will replace hundreds of thousands, or millions, of jobs in the near future, especially customer service, legal forms, script writing--type of jobs where 1 computer with AI can replace thousands of workers. Robots have already eliminated over 5 million U.S. jobs, but in the near future, humanoid robots with AI will replace most jobs. Some of it will be good, some bad.

They act like the "AI" created the video from scratch, but the video literally looks like some random video stolen off the Internet, and adjusted it slightly (i.e. made worse).

You can tell a lot about a source through its artwork

It's not available to use. Only some people have access.😢

Just make a barely visible micro watermarks all over the visual.

The "real" problem is a video of cute puppies are not "real" puppies whether the source is AI generated or filmed.
AI threatens big film industries where movie have a full rights and guarantee of look alike presented in official release. Now, people with limited resources can have the ability to make films such as Blade Runner or JFK.

Only a matter of time that Sora is good enough to replace you on air right.

.
-"We are entering an era where this type of technology will be widespread." It's Democratizing" this stood out to me because as I see the evolution of A.I. how quickly this will actually be popularized but could be an automatic "go to" in reference to video generation, graphics and algorithms.

I found this video on the impact of OpenAI's groundbreaking text-to-video tool Sora particularly intriguing. Here are some key points and insights I found most interesting:

Sora can create realistic looking videos based on a simple text prompt, raising concerns about potential misuse. The video showcases an example where a text prompt for "tour of an art gallery" generates a realistic video, highlighting the capability of this technology. However, the discussion also emphasizes the potential dangers of such technology, as it can be used to create deepfakes that could be disruptive politically, socially, and personally.

OpenAI acknowledges the limitations of Sora and is taking steps to mitigate potential risks. The video mentions that Sora is still under development and has limitations, such as struggling with applying the laws of physics and understanding lighting changes. Additionally, OpenAI is aware of the potential dangers and is holding off releasing the program until safeguards are in place.

Identifying AI-generated videos is becoming increasingly difficult. The expert in the video, Daniel Aria, acknowledges the challenge of identifying AI-generated content. While there might be ways to identify AI-generated videos currently, he suggests that these methods will likely become ineffective as the technology rapidly improves.

The widespread adoption of AI-generated videos will necessitate changes in various sectors, including government and media consumption. The discussion highlights the need for governments to adapt and implement new regulations to address the challenges posed by this technology. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of media consumers developing a critical awareness of the potential for manipulation through AI-generated content.

The impact of AI-generated videos will likely be multifaceted, with both positive and negative consequences. While the video mentions potential disruption to various sectors, it also acknowledges the potential economic benefits and opportunities for innovation. The expert emphasizes the need to consider the potential impact on employment and explore alternative economic models as automation through AI increases.
