AstraZeneca has initiated a global withdrawal of its COVID-19 vaccine, days after it was reported that the British pharmaceutical company admitted that the jab can cause rare side effects. The vaccine, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, was produced by the Serum Institute of India as Covishield.
The vaccine maker has said the worldwide withdrawal was initiated because of commercial reasons due to a "surplus of available updated vaccines" for COVID-19, according to the reports. The vaccine was superseded by updated vaccines that tackle new variants, AstraZeneca said.

Atleast now the company should clarify how long these effects would last? IMA should give more details of what can and cannot happen and tell Indian people if there are any reasons to worry after 3 - 4 years of vaccination...and if so to what extent. And if any remedial actions / precautions should be taken etc.

These vaccines were given during desperate times and already cautions were raised even then that they didn't have sufficient time to run the tests through.

But the world was units knees. Politics apart, medical fraternity should come forth with clarity to help us deal with this.

withdrawal appears to be primarily due to the availability of newer, updated vaccines and commercial considerations, rather than solely due to the side effect., There are many newer vaccine

Both my parents and inlaws had covishield in 2020 and all three doses. Till today they are keeping very good health . Only very few have side effects like any other Vaccination.

I had taken both doses of covishield + booster dose. I am 74yrs, till today I have no side effects in any manner due to covishield. I am healthy and strong. Thanks to covishield.
