If I can get my hands on some more of these British trains, I would be really pleased to have another British locomotive. Nice review bud. 😉👍

Hello for the first time.

Being brought up in the South Wales Valleys in the 1970s & 80s, and being the son of a coal miner, I grew up with 37s seemingly lurking around every corner! Consequently, I too am a fan of the class. I've recently returned to the hobby after decades of doing other things, and have built up a small fleet of 37s - mainly variously-livered late Lima types - to join my childhood Triang model.

Additionally, I have an Accurascale 37 on order, but I am missing a large logo variant.

Now that Bachmann have reduced their price to that of Accurascale's (and large logo variants are available) I toyed with the idea of purchasing one. But then I noticed that Kernow are selling the Hornby Railroad Plus version for £55, making it about the same price as a used (and now very old) Lima model. So, I searched YouTube for a review of the model and found your video.

I have to say, your review was comprehensive, informative and enjoyable. It seems you've taken note of how Sam's Trains presents reviews, which is no bad thing, as his are the best on YouTube, IMO.

After watching your review - and considering the price difference between the Bachmann/Accurascale models at £169 & the Lima-derived Hornby at £55 from Kernow - it was an easy decision to buy the Hornby example.

So thanks very much for the advice. I have also become a subscriber!

A nice loco and worth the money, unlike the SE&CR 'Thomas' (in my opinion). I'd probably get one of these if I did not have several Lima ones, including 3 examples bought ~2004/5 and still unused apart from a brief test run when new. Nothing wrong with the Railroad 37 which uses the excellent ex-Lima tooling. At a normal viewing distance they are more or less the same as a £200+ Bachmann 37 and run well enough for most people. I suspect the hesitation on points is just a bit of resistance as the bogies turn through a tight angle and nothing to do with electrical continuity. Good video, we need more exposure for budget models like this.
