Santorini Travel Guide - All you NEED to know for 2023 inc prices

Santorini is known as being the 'Supermodel' of the Greek Islands and renowned for being expensive. But is Santorini expensive and can it be done on a backpacker budget? Yes it can. This Santorini Budget Guide will tell you how to keep the spending low.

Our Santorini Travel Guide will give you the information you want to know and covers resorts such as Perissa, Kamari, Fira Town and Oia. Oia is well known for it's sunset spot and the place to stay for those having a Santorini honeymoon and celebrities alike.

The Santorini tourist resorts of Perissa and Kamari are more affordable resorts to stay in and a top pick for many. Kamari is more built up than Perissa and would be our recommended place to stay on a future visit to Santorini. It is also very close to Santorini airport with a journey time of approximately 10 minutes.

How to travel Santorini? Local buses are reliable and fairly frequent but do get very busy. Fares start from 1.60 per person. The airport bus runs from Fira every hour. It will take approximately 25 minutes to get to Oia from Fira town by bus.
Santorini taxi's are very expensive due to there only being a limited amount of them so do expect higher prices if you choose to take one.
Santorini port is well connected by bus from Fira if you are getting a ferry to or from Santorini.

The sunset in Santorini is well worth viewing, however, get there early if you want a good spot in Oia. In our opinion, you can pretty much get the same views from Fira town if you don't want to go to Oia.

Is Santorini family friendly? Yes, we would say so and would recommend staying in Kamari. There's not much for children to do though as it is mainly an 'adult' island so keep that in mind.
