Built in 1965, it was originally known as the Sahara Tahoe and then re-branded as the High Sierra Hotel in 1985. It was then re-branded once again as the Horizon when it was sold to Columbia Sussex in 1990. In 2005, it was then acquired by Harrah's Entertainment and then re-branded once again as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino of Lake Tahoe in 2014, before extensive renovations a year later.
