Thanks to Sal Khan, founder of the Khan Academy for sponsoring the Breakthrough Junior Challenge, encouraging young minds to come up with innovative ideas and rewarding them with a University scholarship and recognition to their school and teacher. To think this all started by remotely helping your sister with her homework. My daughter watched your tutorials when she was in high school and I have recommended the Khan Academy to many parents when their children needed a different way to learn math or the sciences. I hope you are recruited by the Biden administration to help the new Education Secretary reform reaching in America, that ripples to other countries. Our tech savvy children need a modern approach they can relate to, whether it is the brightest in the class or a child with dyslexia, there is a way to teach them all, as witnessed by this winning video. Classes should be set up based on a combination of intelligence, as well as social and emotional intelligence, not by age or a calendar year. Students should be able to progress when they are ready. This will require significant changes to educating new teachers and training those in the system. It will require evaluations, teaching materials and equipment, etc. For the benefit of our children, society and the environmental, climate, medical and other challenges, there is no time to waste. A change in the way we teach our children could lead to the cure for cancer, the transition to green energy, cleaning our oceans, addressing the challenges facing cities and countries with rising sea levels, developing new forms of habitation for the ongoing Climate changes and preparing countries to welcome Climate refugees, amongst others. Our children need to learn more about communicating with their perts, their present and future families and in working in teams. They need to learn about family budgeting and retirement planning. They need to learn about civic responsibilities and existing social issues. Children need to be taught how to support themselves and how to live in harmony within their communities. I know any reform to a system like Education is a huge challenge, I hope and pray to see these changes within the next 5-10 years. 🇨🇦

I have been wanting a tele-porter from Star Trek or a magic wand from Harry Potter, to get from one place to another in seconds. If only. Like Sal Khan, founder of the Khan Academy you are showing a new way of teaching to our tech savvy kids. As your father said, the future is open to all possibilities. I am very proud that a Canadian from a remote part of Canada won. There is more to Fort McMurray than oil.
